Greetings to all my #foodie friends.
Happy Friday and Happy Holidays to all my #steemit pals.
There is nothing more pleasurable to me than having all my family together in one place, under one roof then cooking up a storm. I don't know about anyone else, but with my family, the best times often center around food and the kitchen table. Seems the natives get restless just before I ring the dinner bell. Once everyone gets their chow, conversations are much calmer and certainly more pleasant.🤷♀️😄
I prepared a simple Alfredo sauce...
Here are the ingredients:
3 garlic cloves finely chopped
3 tbls. butter
1 cup of thickened cream, I used 1/2 cup of heavy cream plus one 12oz. can of evaporated milk
1 egg yolk
1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated
1/4 cup Romano cheese grated
pinch of nutmeg
pinch of salt.
So here's how it goes, pay attention you men folk, even you guys could manage this one(I hope)🙄
In a large sauce pan melt the butter, sauté the garlic. Slowly add heavy cream, evaporated milk, stir in the salt, nutmeg and both of the grated cheeses. Now here's the tricky part, guys are you listening? You must continue to stir constantly, making sure all the cheese has melted and blended nicely. Once you have a smooth consistency stir in the egg yolk. Stir, stir, and stir some more. The sauce will then start to thicken, once you have a nice blend lower your heat, I mean the lowest setting you can get from your stove top. Then cover, and simmer for only 3-5 minutes, be careful not to scorch it, if you do, just chuck it out and start over.🤦♀️😜
Wanting to add a little more color and flavor, I chopped up some carrots, onions and broccoli.
Steamed them up to perfection!
Now with such a big family, not everyone likes linguine, which is always @thebigsweeds first choice.
So being the best mom and grammy ever...oh boy...hehe. I made three different pastas. My grand daughter Ava loves rigatoni, I prefer orzo and so does my daughter Erica but all my men folk like those thick pasta strings, linguine.
I added a nice side of cold beets, they taste like candy, so good.
Viola...Simple Alfredo sauce...served here over linguine.
And if there is sauce, ya gotta have this to clean up your plate .
So there you have it all you finger lickin' food freaks. Hope your mouths are watering and you have a pleasant food coma.
Wishing all of you the best Holidays ever!
Remember, no matter how hot it gets in the kitchen arena, there's no hitting below the belt.😏😘🎄✌🎅🤶💕
Mmm... getting hungry now 😘
You should be salivating, I am a good cook. Stop by anytime and pull up a chair, we always have enough to share with friends.

Hey @farm-mom, here is a little bit of from @foodfightfriday for you. Enjoy it!Thanks @foodfightfriday, how did you know I was thirsty? Cheers mates!!
Mopping up pasta sauce with bread is life...
😂
Nothing like warm fresh bread, I don't care what they, those supposed experts haven't tried mine. Heaven
Farm-mom: My bread is the best
Me: Oh, that sounds tremendous
Also me: How the hell can I get me some
Me again: Now I feel like bread
Also me again: It's almost 1am and I'm in bed...Too late for bread
Me: Damn farm-mom for mentioning bread
hahahaahha heheheh
pasta is the only dish our baby agree to eat any time of day without questions, always... thanks for the sauce recipe, maybe we will try it during the N.Year holidays!
Oh yes kids love pasta, the first thing my grand kids ask for is mac and cheese, which by the way, I make a pretty good cheese sauce also. hehe
Wishing you and yours a blessed Holiday.
That looks do delicious! My son learned to make Alfredo sauce at a French restaurant he worked at and would make if for us often. It's really good!
Have a wonderful Holiday, hope Santa is good to you.😊🎅🤶Good morning @goldenoakfarm, my family loves it but I doubt it's as good as your son's recipe. Hope you are keeping warm, we got down to 2 degrees last night so I am sure you must be down to single digits also.
Yup, but only 9F last night, just what they predicted. Usually we are 5 -10 degrees colder....
Two good wood stoves, so plenty warm, plus whatever sun there is...
oh perfect, our wood stove has been going full tilt, loving it. They say tonite is the night for -9 degrees here, and we think that will happen. The skies were clear and blue today, so with no cloud cover we are in for the deep freeze.
Talk soon my friend @goldenoakfarm.😉
filling the room with aromas that tickle the nose,
creating meals fit for a king,
and doing it with enough love in her heart to ward off the devil himself! 💕Joy, @farm-mom doing her thing in the kitchen,
See what happens when we decorate for the Holidays, we fall in love all over again. We are blessed big man.😘
@farm-mom. Firstly, a big congratulations on the @appreciator vote and the @curangel feature.
Grandmas are the best! Mine used to make two pumpkin pies for Christmas, one for the family, (no longer with us) and the second for me. And only grandmas can make Christmas candy! I didn’t get any Christmas candy for probably 10 years—then I met Pura, she still has a grandma. For the past 4 years, we would be mailed Christmas candy, this is the first year without... but she still sent Pura cash—as, again, only Grandmas do.
Your family is lucky to have you. @foodfightfriday is lucky to have you, too. Ya’all have a great weekend, happy holidays to you both. I give this one an in-the-Park double seeing how your man really set the bar this round—“ka’pow!”
It's funny how this works, sometimes I will think one post is going to be well received and really isn't, then another one will just blossom rather quickly , surprising the heck out of me. Either way, it's fun.
Bob's mom was a candy maker also, we would get boxes of chocolate covered raisins and nut clusters that were off the charts. She always made everything from scratch with the best chocolate. Boy I miss her. I can get a little sad around the Holidays, missing my peeps, but then I roll back to my childhood and smile, I was a lucky little girl.
oh ya, mop up that plate with a thick piece of garlic bread, now you are talkin' Wait a minute, you are a special order chef also? Dang, around here it is "you get what I give you" HAHAHAHA Look at you go, taking into consideration everyone's noodle choice. Happy Holidays from The Splatts Fam
Heehehe, yeah, I am a little nuts when trying to please everyone. But I am just built that way.😉
The very best to you and yours. Have a happy and healthy Holiday.🎄🎅🤶🍜🥗❤
I just love an Alfredo Sauce on pasta, nice touch adding the veggies, this is a great vegetarian meal! That bread looks amazing too @farm-mom! If I don't see you again before Christmas, here's wishing you and your family a wonderfully blessed Christmas period, enjoy the celebrations:)
Right back at you my friend @lizelle.
Wishing you and your family a Very Merry Christmas and a Healthy New Year!!
An excellent entry. Merry Christmas!
