How do the blocked fallopian tubes actually prevent fertilization?

Biologically it is actually the ovum that really travels from the actual major fimbrai end of the oviduct towards the main uterus and the sperms would really travel from the vagina and the uterus then really into the oviduct which is actually also called the Fallopian tubes...

If the oviducts are truly totally blocked then obviously the sperms and the ovum would not Be able to meet thereby making it impossible for the the sperm to be able to fertilize the ovum.
