Can I get your feedback on @SteemSmarter?

in #feedback7 years ago

If you follow my blog, you'll know that my team and I (@crypthoe and @thescubageek) spent ~10 weeks to build a Steem tagging engine to offer you deep tag analytics on how to build your following and make money on Steem! It's called @SteemSmarter!

Here's our lovable mascot "Lil Steemy"

We have released just a few reports so far, and we realize that we are still in the very early stages of delivering to you what we KNOW we can. Like most good startups, we released our MVP (Minimal Viable Product) quickly in hopes to get feedback from our community (hey, that's you!).

Here's an example of what the report looks like (direct link: https://steemit.com/steem/@steemsmarter/steemsmarter-daily-report-february-22nd-2018)

Basically, we have a "tagging engine" that downloads the Steem blockchain each day, records it in our database and then we run various filters, sorts and rank the top 20 tags in order of how likely you are to get engagement and rewards for your post.

Our tagging engine is POWERFUL, but I want to know what types of questions you are asking yourself when you are abt to post on Steem. What data could we offer you to help you get the most out of your time spent on this wonderful platform?

We are building this for YOU and all of your feedback is welcomed :)

There are no dumb questions or dumb feedback. Give us what you got!

Ashe

This may not be relevant to your current project, but since you have the development team, here's my request.

I'd like to have a tool that analyses my account activity such as upvotes, follows, comments, replies, and resteems, and provides me with a feed of posts that I'd like to read.

One important aspect of that feed would be to filter out the posts that contain videos.

If you can build that tool, you'd save my steemit experience, because at the moment, I find only 1 out of every 100 posts that I come across in the trending or hot tab worth my time.

yeah, curation is currently very difficult and finding relevant content is too. I believe we'll move more towards tag-based following like with sub-reddits. Even my readers will tell you that my content isn't consistent and much of it may be of interest, but then a lot of it may not be because of the diversification of my topics and content.

I believe we'll move more towards tag-based following like with sub-reddits.

I believe there are a lot of opportunities for independent development teams to create interfaces that provide these functionalities to the end user.

100% agree, but I can't figure out the revenue model yet. Any ideas? I'd love to build a Steem front-end to compete with Steemit.com. Busy.org is making great progress imo. Maybe i'll stick to reports and apps...?

As a user, I don’t mind seeing 1 ad for every 10 relevant steemit posts. That ratio is 100 irrelevant posts to 1 relevant post at the moment on the trending and hot tabs of steemit.com.

You can start with Adsense and eventually use other ad networks, or implement your own ad server.

You can also give the option of premium membership for users who want to see relevant posts without the ads.

great points. Would you like to be in our SteemSmarter beta group? We're looking for ppl to run concepts by before we go live with them.

Sure, I can try out some tools and provide feedback. How do I reach out to your beta group when a new version is available?

This project is awesome..... i love it and i am gonna get benefits from ..... its very helpful for all steemians
Thanks @ashe for bringing such amazing project

awesome, thank you. We've spent most of the time so far building out the tagging engine that will support several reports in the coming months.

I love all the steem projects that are happening and am trying to figure out how I can get involved but I am trying to think about what I would do with this info.

I wonder if you could cut this data by reputation so that minnows might see where they can actually contribute and get traction and go there it might be really helpful to the community.

A lot of people talk about how much the community is dominated by whales but I feel like that is true only in the main tags and there are a bunch of new and growing tags where new minnows can thrive. Just my thoughts anyways.

very interesting. We will be rolling out our "fish pond" very soon so that you can see what level of users (plankton, minnows, dolphins, sharks and whales) are actually engaging, commenting, voting, etc. Stay tuned and plz subscribe to @steemsmarter!

That will be interesting to see. Thanks

I mostly ask myself how to improve visibility.

I love your mascot, so cute! Excited to try this out and then give more feedback! Thanks for giving the people what they want!

ur welcome :) The product will get better and better. Plz subscribe to @steemsmarter and keep giving us your feedback!

i was totally surprised when I see steemsmarter work! because it give us best result of 24 hour whuch are basically helpfull for newbie also community member for financial !
we have to chose the best tags from smarter project! you and your friend made steemsmarter which helpfull for all community member and also hard wark pays! from the core of heart, i really appriciate your work!
thank you #ashe-oro @crypthoe @thescubageek making awesome project!

How does this tool help me increase my following? As a minnow, most of them look out for tools that increase their following.

Keep up the good work. One of the few tools that has a good design sense.

thank you, we will be rolling out more beautiful design and branding soon. Regarding how will @SteemSmarter help you increase your following, we show you where the most active communities (tags) are so that you have a higher chance of getting in front of the people who are most engaged.

It's looking cool @ashe-ore I think it would be successful in future @steemsmarter is really great project i never seen best project like @steemsmarter and thank you for making such a great project.

Any case studies to show that effective tagging brings in more upvotes?

From what I can see, it really comes down to engaged followers instead of hashtag usage.

good feedback and I tend to agree with you. It seems that ppl follow ppl rather than following tags (topics and subjects). This is similar to facebook, but different than Reddit, for example. I think this could change if "communities" ever rolls out or we get a better interface to use. I've recently moved to Busy.org (https://busy.org/busy/@ashe-oro/i-m-moving-to-busy-org)

Yeah I think the ability to use multiple hashtags has destroyed part of the value that Reddit offers. Like I sit on /r/entrepreneur constantly, but if you look at #entrepreneur or #business here on Steemit, it's flooded with crap.

I've recently moved to Busy.org

I've thought about it.. and may move there at some stage, but don't they take a % of your author rewards? I know Dtube/steepshot do.

great initiative brother . thanks for sharing this :)

congenial & significant!

Very interesting article hope I can read more about yours like this.
