Are we in an even larger bubble than 2008?

This my first contribution/post on Steemit, so I thought I'd start with what's been on my mind lately.

Are we in an even larger bubble than 2008?

To answer this question, one need only look at the growth of the Federal reserve’s balance sheet between 2008 and 2016. The assets owned by the Fed, which increase as new money is pumped into circulation, has doubled from $2.2T to $4.5T in this time period. The largest contributing line item is the increase government debt and mortgage backed securities. This isn’t really surprising since the Fed bought up all the bad investments held by US banks and has been assisting the US government run ever growing deficits.
The question is WHEN does the next collapse occur? While many people may believe everything is fine, as we’re told by the corporate media, I feel many know that’s not really the truth. While we may all have our fingers crossed, hoping the day of reckoning never comes, I think it’s coming sooner than rather than later. The boom-bust cycles are growing shorter and shorter and even with the massive interventions by the central banks, this latest “recovery” with all-time highs in stocks and real estate is due to come crumbling down.
As part of my own personal preparation for the coming economic downturn, I’ve become enamored with the blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. That’s why I am glad I found steemit and joined this site. I feel the future holds great things for blockchain technology and there is potential for all industries to benefit from its use. It may be the saving grace from the next economic collapse. While, I don’t think the collapse can be prevented, I believe the pain can be short lived if the central bankers and governments get out of the way. Minimal intervention and a technological breakthrough (like the internet in the 90s) can lead to a speedy recovery and REAL growth benefiting everyone.

Welcome to Steemit @theton. Yes, I think many here will agree with you that the future does hold great things for blockchain technology. I am also new to Steemit and cryto, and the more I learn about all this, the more I am convinced of it's potential benefit for everyone too :)

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback
