A special morning to you all, it’s a great privilege to be here and I’m glad to be making my debut post on Steemit and I know you will find it readable and upvotable.
Firstly let me tell you that off shoulder gown is a simple dress that you can wear both occasionally and casually and it’s very simple and easy to design. With just some few steps and guide we are good to go.
Materials or let me say what you need to make your dress.
Sewing machine
Two to Three yards of fabric of your choice
Scissors
Chalk
Tape rule
Thread and any other materials.
We can now proceed to the actual guide or let me say step we needed to take to design our dress
- The measurement needed for cutting the dress must have been accurately taken.
Measurement to be taken for mini gown;
Length
Shoulder/Back
Burst
Waist
Hip
Sleeve
Round sleeve
Measurement to be taken for long gown;
Full length
Kneel length
Shoulder/Back
Burst
Waist
Hip
Sleeve
Round sleeve
- You should have determined if you are going to make the dress mini or long gown.it should be the one you are comfortable with.
- Fold the material (fabric) on the table into four equal places if using of zip is not necessary, but if zip is necessary the back must be at maximum two inches more than the front. So at this point you are folding your fabric into four places in which two will be 2inches more than the other two if zip is needed, if not it must be folded equally.
NOTE: Add like 2inches to the length for the seam allowance.
Then measure and locate your burst
Also measure and locate your waist
Measure and locate your hip
Make sure the fabric is still folded into four places and on the right hand side make 4inches along the edges and 6inches down along the side and then draw a curved shaped connecting the two point mark together and cut it out to make your armholes.
What you are cutting should give you something of this shape if its mini gown
And of this shape if it is long gown
Then if you unfold the folded four shapes, it should give you this.
For the mini gown
For the Long gown
To cut the hand, just fold the fabric into four and measure the length and width needed.
Then cut it out into this shape.
The curve side will be joined to the armhole on your dress.
Then your dress is ready to be stitch and then perfectly fit to wear. You can now enjoy your dress and put it on both occasionally and casually and look gorgeous.

@crosheille has made an initiative here on Steemit to spread needlework art and get it displayed. Sewing, knitting and crocheting seems to have become a lost art, that is until Steemit. There are quite a few crafters that still love these arts. A group of us share our needlework creations every Monday using the tag #NeedleworkMonday. We share ideas, tips, patterns and techniques while encouraging and inspiring one another. Any art involving a needle is welcome! You can post new projects that you are working on or archived projects that you have pictures of. We would love for you to join us on Mondays and post under the tag so everyone can find your work. It has gotten pretty popular these past few months and more crafters are starting to share. We hope you check it out :) Thanks for your time~
