Homemade fertilizer

These homemade products such as egg shells, coffee residues, the skin of a banana or the wood ashes you get after a barbecue. These are some of the ingredients you need to make an ecological and healthy fertilizer for your garden. Forget the harmful chemical fertilizers and start taking care of your plants as they deserve using only natural waste that is easily degraded and their organic elements are easily absorbed by our crops

 The egg shells.

Everyone in the kitchen has eggs. And the shells are something that we usually throw away. But no longer: its high calcium content makes it the best product to improve the health of plantations such as tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, fruit trees and even roses. To get your fertilizer, wash the skins well and crush them until you get a fine powder that you can distribute around the plants. Another option is to soak five egg shells for 24 hours. Then, filter the liquid and pour directly into the earth.

The remains of coffee.

If you are very coffee, you have it very easy with this natural fertilizer. Coffee grounds have many benefits for plants: they enrich and nitrogen the soil; and they are very suitable for roses and blueberries that need acid soils. To take advantage of its benefits, you just have to make an infusion with the grounds and water with the mixture the stems and leaves of your plants. You can also make a circle with the remains of coffee around the plant to drive away worms, snails and slugs.

The banana shell.

Like fruit, your skin contains large amounts of potassium that you can take advantage of to strengthen your plants and flowers. To obtain a fertilizer based on this fruit, cut the skin of the banana - which is neither too ripe nor too green - and pour it in a pan. Cover with water and boil for at least 15 minutes. Once cold, strain and dilute the banana infusion in two parts of water. You can also dry the husks, pulverize them and mix them with water to water them.

Wood ashes.

This product is perfect for combating pests, at the same time that its contribution of phosphorus stimulates the ripening of flowers and fruits. Simply dilute the ashes in a liter of water to get a liquid fertilizer that you can use once a week. It is also a good idea to directly spread a layer of ashes two centimeters from the stem and bury them.
