Benefits of Basil for our body.
Basil is great for our body because it has a lot of nutritional benefits. This is considered one of the healthiest herbs, as it provides an impressive list of nutrients, among which we can mention: iron, calcium, manganese, magnesium, vitamin C and potassium. In addition, basil also has antibacterial properties and contains flavonoids that protect DNA, one of which is vitamin K, which is essential for blood clotting. Just two tablespoons of basil provide 29% of the recommended daily value.
Basil is an excellent antioxidant because it contains vitamin A, which provides beta-carotenes, which protect the cells that line a series of body structures. It also helps prevent arteriosclerosis, heart attacks and stroke.
How to Plant Basil?
The sowing and cultivation is very simple, you can buy the seeds or get an adult basil plant and pick them yourself, during the time of flowering we can obtain their seeds and we should let them dry, to later be able to make a nursery and transplant the plants to a pot or directly on well-fertilized land.

In view of the fact that I am interested in obtaining and enjoying fresh basil leaves for a prolonged period, I must frequently prune the plant to avoid flowering, since when it blossoms it dries and dies, this helps the plant to grow better.
Steps to follow:
Prepare your seedbed once they germinate between 12 and 15 days after planting, we will transplant our basil plants into the pot when they have an approximate height between 10 and 12 centimeters high. The site chosen for planting must be prepared with soil mixed with fertilizer so that you can do the sowing.
It is recommended to sow the basil plant during the morning hours or in the afternoon after 5 pm to prevent the plants from receiving the intense rays of the sun, which can wither them.
To plant the seedling, we must make holes or furrows of 5 to 7 centimeters deep to guarantee the roots the space they need to develop, so that they do not bend and so that it is well compacted and that it is not too superficial that could affect it. the irrigation or wind.
Once the plant is deposited, it is necessary to cover the roots and the stem with earth, compact the soil a little by supporting the palms of the hands near the stem and pressing gently.
Once this process is finished, you should irrigate the plant with little water to make it compact. This should remain in a window, balcony or terrace to receive direct sunlight, and should be watered every one or two days.
Considerations to Grow Basil.
Climate.-
The ideal temperature for growing basil ranges between 15 and 25 ° C, unfortunately these plants can not withstand lower temperatures.
Luminosity.-
The cultivation of basil requires direct sunlight, for this reason before planting you must choose a place with good lighting, however you can also adapt to the shadow areas, as long as you can receive direct sunlight.
Soil.-
These plants need a well-drained soil, fertile and rich in organic matter. It is advisable to keep the soil moist by avoiding excess water and puddles.
Irrigation.-
Regarding irrigation, you have to do it frequently so that the soil stays moist, but in small quantities, that is, it does not get flooded.
If you see that the weather is very hot you should water the plant once every day, and once every two or three days if the weather is more humid. It is important to water it directly on the ground without wetting its leaves, always avoiding excess water.
Do you know how to collect the seeds?
One of the most important things to get our own seed and it is very easy, we select and cut the flowers that are dry and have seeds, we open the flowers and inside we will find the seeds, which can be stored in a container plastic or glass, the important thing is that it is well dry so that the seeds do not absorb moisture and are damaged. It is recommended to store the seeds with ash or rice.
