Strawberries are herbaceous plants and belong to the family of Rosaceae, with a creeping stem. This fruit grows in groups of three on the stem of a ground floor and at the time of maturity, it changes from the greenish white color to its characteristic intense red. This fruit has no skin and is covered with hundreds of seeds.

Properties of strawberries

Strawberries are foods rich in vitamin C, for every 100 grams we are consuming approximately: 54.93 milligrams of Vitamin C, this percentage is greater than what the orange or lemon provides. In addition, strawberry contains vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and E, many phytonutrients, antioxidants and salicylates. Contain minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, iron, iodine, potassium and calcium.

Among its great properties are malic acid, oxalic acid, citric acid, salicylic acid, folates, flavoids, fiber, iron, sugar, lime, protein substances, soluble salts, cellulose, water, sodium, and sulfur.

Benefits of the strawberry

This fruit offers us many properties, here I highlight some of great importance for the organism:

• Reduce diseases. By supplementing our diet with a fruit such as strawberry this helps us to reduce some of the diseases we suffer, such as hyperthyroidism, constipation, cold. All this for its high content of vitamin C. Studies have shown that this fruit strengthens red blood cells against oxidative stress, this is an imbalance that has been related over the years to different diseases.

• Diuretic. Thanks to the potassium contained in this fruit diuresis increases in the body, so that its consumption regularly detoxifies the body and regulates blood pressure.

• Low in calories. For those who wish to lose weight, it is a fruit that is low in calories and rich in minerals and vitamins.

• Anti carcinogenic. The salt that contains this fruit helps us to prevent cardiovascular and degenerative diseases, for this reason it is recommended to avoid the appearance of cancer, parkinson's disease or Alzheimer's disease.

• Anti-inflammatory properties. Because of its phenolic content, strawberries help fight inflammatory diseases such as atherosclerosis, asthma or osteoarthritis. The strawberry reduces the levels of C-Reactive protein, which is an indicator that there is some inflammation.

• Strengthens bones. Due to manganese, vitamin K, magnesium and potassium found in strawberries help strengthen our bone structure.

• Healthy view. Its consumption helps reduce the possibility of suffering from diseases such as macular degeneration.

• Help in digestion. The strawberries contain a quantity of fibers that diminish the constipation and collaborate in the cleaning of the colon.

• Exfoliating skin. This fruit contains something called biotin, which strengthens the nails and hair. Ellagic acid helps protect the elastic fibers of the skin.

Other benefits of this fruit:

• Thanks to its high content of ascorbic acid, pectin and lecithin help control the level of cholesterol in the blood.

• They are low in calories.

• Contains fibers that help regulate digestive processes.

• They are a natural source of vitamin B6, since they contain niacin, riboflavin and pantothenic acid.

• Because of its manganese content, strawberries act as a powerful antioxidant and a natural anti-inflammatory.

• Some studies indicate that strawberries help reduce the risk of macular degeneration.

• Due to its high content of magnesium, potassium and vitamin K it is a potent food for bone health.

• A cup of strawberries contains 136% of vitamin C, that makes it a food that boosts the immune system.

The strawberry is grown in very humid and cold-temperate zones, which is why it is common to find it wild in the forests.

Contraindications

Excessive consumption can cause discomfort, so before consuming them you should take into account if you are allergic to aspirin you should know that they contain acetylsalicylic acid, and that can cause problems.
