"Siblings are the people we practice on, the people who teach us about fairness and cooperation and kindness and caring quite often the hard way.” Pamela Dugdale
Cheers to you dear sister on your birthday
So today, July 29th xx years ago an enchantment brushed against the cheeks of a most cruel world, decided to stay and world was never the same again. This was the day my little sister said hello world, and embarked on her own journey of life. This was the day the three of us (mom, dad and I) had been waiting for with baited breath, for nine whole months. I was only five then, excited about starting grade school, happy and content about the pampering that came with being an only child. My eyes sparkled when I first saw her, wondered when she would start talking so that we could chat and play all day, share my toys, that had known only my wrath and am sure were yearning for better handling. I couldn't wait to share the news with my friend William from next door, - well brag really.
So life would take its course, aunties, uncles would come with their myrrh and frankincense, and attention would gradually shift from the star-player of the family to the new addition. Slowly it would dawn on me that I was nolonger the special one, nolonger the priced player of the team. Even in my own little mind at age five, I tried to rationalise this, not as a total shift of attention, but rather a dilution of shares in a company. This meant I was nolonger as special, nolonger an only child, nolonger the spoilt one. Ofcourse this would become more apparent as time unfolded. And unfold it did into an edgeless garment. So much happened over the years, and definitely we were not exempt from sibling rivalry- we had our fair share of exchanges. And ofcourse she too slipped right into my shoes at age five when another sister joined the family, and what dejavu that was.
In families, running the race together is always better than winning against each other
Over the years we have only but grown closer, learning the value of what it is to be have each other as family, lessons our parents always made sure we never missed. We have learnt so much together and even as we now live in different parts of the world, we know, even when noone else will stand by you family will always be there. More important that anything is that families are in the race to win together and never in competition to fight each other.
So today I celebrate my sister's birthday, we have come far together, your achievements have made us proud. Happy Birthday, here is wishing you many many more. Love Always.
HAhaa i like it :D
Grt piece..
Happy birthday!!!
Siblings enjoy sharing love and defensive mechanisms against outsiders. However when alone they tend to aggressive or quarrelsome to each other.
Happy birthday
