THE PAIN OF BECOMING A FATHER

The pain of becoming a father by losing your father is unbearable especially when you are poor. As a child of 10 years old, a boy left his family to spend holiday with his aunt and her family and refused to return to his family because he foresaw a better future there.
He went through primary, secondary school without itch but had issues getting into the university. All expenses being paid for by his new family.
He finally gained admission into the university after 6 years of leaving secondary school. He struggled through the university, graduated and went to serve his country (NYSC) only to pass out of service to meet the demise of his biological father.
Just when he thought he was about to start earning and make ends meet. Now he has to go back home to bury his father.
The elders and family relatives who haven't ever been seen come out to give him bills to pay for the burial.
He scraped all of his savings and with help of friends and immediate family he was able to bury his father. Now he has become the father to his siblings , husband to the mother and must provide for all.
Where does he begin in a country like Nigeria? He is scared to leave his fragile mother alone.
These are some of the things we face as Africans and Nigerians yet someone will call us lazy.
