According to a post on Techcrunch, social media giant Facebook is giving all of their 1 billion plus users the ability to stream live 360 degree video, provided they have both the equipment and the Internet connection that allows them to do so. Over the last few years, the proliferation of high-speed Internet connectivity coupled with advances in camera technology have converged to see an explosion in the production of high-quality 360-degree video. But, until recently, broadcasting that video over Facebook has remained the perview of a select few users whom the company had blessed with the ability. This latest move opens up incredible possibilities for video to come from normal users who may provide unique 'on the ground' perspectives of important events as they happen.
More details to come as more information is learned about the feature. For now, here is Facebook's video on how to stream 360-degree video from your own account.
