There are plenty of reasons why China banned FB, Youtube and google.
The Imperative of Replacing Google and Facebook:
Google and FB have verifiably worked with the US State Department in pursuit of geopolitical objectives around the world, from the collapse of the Libyan government to attempts at regime change in Syria, and using social media and information technology around the world to manipulate public perception and achieve sociopolitical goals on behalf of Wall Street and Washington for years....Vietnam is the latest nation to begin encouraging local alternatives to the search engine and social media network in order to rebalance the monopoly over information both tech giants enjoy in the Southeast Asian country today.

and I have no problem using Weibo, Youku and Baidu - the Chinese version of FB, Youtube and Google.
Reasons not to use Facebook:

Former assistant secretary of the US treasury Paul Craig Roberts wrote:
The shitheads at Facebook and Twitter are working hand in hand with the CIA to censure truthtellers and have taken actions against Russian websites that post my columns. The lowgrade morons at Twitter and Facebook are going to bring their American monopolies to an end as the rest of the world organizes a free social media.

Yeap! let's end it and switch to STEEMIT
Are the Chinese alternatives any "better" than the "mainstream" ones? When it comes to privacy/tracking and such? Or are they even worse, coming from a fairly totalitarian government?
