We've all had one at sometime of our lives. You'll suddenly feel like something is in your eye, yet no eye matter seems to be floating around. You will notice a red bump usually with a white small center. Sometimes they will form on the outer part of the eye lid, but they can also be under the lid and will almost feel like a scratching, similar to dirt or sand, yet you can't remove it. TaDa! You have a stye! Annoying little buggers and they need to be treated asap.

Stye's are caused by bacteria. Touching your eyes with anything other than a clean tissue is the major cause, clean contacts put in with unclean hands, and can be contagious through sharing pillowcases, towels & washcloths. The good news is catching them early and doing what I'm about to tell you will end them in 15 minutes or less. And don't ever touch your eye with out clean hands & a tissue again!

To heal a stye quickly it needs to drain. DO NOT TRY TO POP IT LIKE A ZIT! This can damage your eye lid pores.
Wash hands very well. Using a very clean washcloth, get a folded corner wet under HOT RUNNING water. Gently hold the wet, hot washcloth on the eye lid with gentle pressure. Hold until the cloth has started to go warm. Repeat. If your water is extremely hot (over 160F) be careful to not burn your eyelid. Continue to hold hot compresses until your vision seems to go a little blurry. This is for those that are under the lid where you can't see them without lifting the lid. The blurry means it has come to a head and popped on it's own. DON'T USE THIS CLOTH AGAIN until cleaned in the laundry! Don't use the same wash cloth if you have them in both eyes! Use one for each eye to prevent spreading the bacteria!
It may take longer on one that is visible on the eye lid, but the same process can be used. Keep steady compresses on until the white has seemed to disappear from the stye, which means it has drained. It seems ones on the outer edge of the lid may be more stubborn and this may have to be done a few times a day, but you will get rid of it.

The best way to avoid these annoying things is don't touch your face with out a clean tissue or fresh cleaned hands and never touch the eye again with out a clean tissue. Styes are from bacteria, technical name, staphylococcal bacteria, usually comes from the nose. For example, when we are crying, our nose tends to run & tears are running from our eyes. It's quite easy if a tissue is not handy to get the two fluids intertwined. Getting into the habit of always having tissues readily available, one for nose-one for eyes will keep this bacterial out of your eyes.
Thanks for reading and I hope this offers quick relief and it doesn't cost anything but time.
Thanks for the better remedy because I always tried to pop them like a pimple. Better yet is your info to prevent getting one to begin with!
Yeah popping them doesn't work. I find this remedy takes about 5 minutes if you catch them right at the beginning. So easy to forget and rub our eyes! Hope you try this next time, it really does work!
