If it wasn't for @blockbrothers community manager @brittandjosie post I might have missed it!

Steem is 3 years old today!

Time sure flies and in July this year I will be celebrating my own 3rd year of being part of this blockchain.

From visiting Steemfest 1 in Amsterdam as a 4 months old minnow to a top 100 Steempower holder it's been an interesting and exciting journey I can tell you that.

I'm very grateful for recognising the opportunity that Steem is (even today) back then and to see what I saw back then become real (and much more than that).

By now, I have spend a hell of a lot of time on here.

But unlike my old job not because I had to but because I wanted to and that difference is hard to put in words.

It's incredible fun to wake up in the morning and see another project appear on the blockchain or see an update to an exciting one.

There is always something going on the chain and I continue to believe that Steem is one of the strongest if not strongest blockchains out there.

I at-least can see pretty clearly where it's going: A complete social economic ecosystem powered by Steem.

When it comes to price, personally I think (unless something catastrophic happens) we have seen the worst of things in December 2018 this time round and from now will find our way up again slowly.

I also want to see the people that kept building in this downtrend rewarded for their believe in the chain because it's not always easy in these markets.

One thing I'm sure off is that STEEM is now in stronger hands.

3 years of Steem, let's see:

  • We have the biggest and most diverse community in crypto.
  • We have the most used applications (4 out of the top 5 are Steem Apps on stateofthedapps).
  • We soon have MIRA, making Steem one of the cheapest (and therefor most decentralised) blockchains to run.
  • Revenue models (outside of crypto) for Steem apps are becoming very real.

I could talk about this stuff for hours but I won't because I gotta shoot off.

It's my grandmothers birthday party today and just like Steem that's important too!

Have a good Sunday!

Wow, I had no idea you went to Steemfest as such a young Steemian. 4 months in, you already saw the value of Steemit/STEEM on the blockchain.

I was introduced to Steemit early as well. In spring/early summer 2016 a friend sent me a link on Facebook (of all places) about some huge amount that was made on a post. I thought it was a scam and clicked away.

I finally joined in July, 2017 costing me over a year when I could have been networking with the early (now) whales. Lesson learned...

I'm hopeful we've seen the backside of this crypto-winter and look forward to the future of STEEM!

You lost some time, but still got here much earlier than most!

Doesn't feel like time is running so fast, 3 years is indeed a relatively young age, but you have achieved a high level which includes 100 of the biggest SP holders, in the age of 3 years you achieve that is certainly something extraordinary and difficult to achieve by people ordinary people ... I've been in Steem for almost 2 years, but still continue to be a small fish, and can even continue for a few more years to reach like you ..😊

Congrats Mark @exyle and Happy Birthday to your Grandmother.......

I can’t wait to see what happens 3 years from now ... good times 🙌🏼

Wow. Glad to be part of this great thing called steem. It is a rare chance for me

Steemit is a new gateways to cryptocurrency and the public. I tell people all the time to earn on Steem, then use that to invest.

For me STEEM is the investment.

Happy Birthday to your granny & Steem. Powerful combination! Congratulations.

Congratulations on your upcoming third year!

This July will mark my second year on the platform! Has it really been two years? WOW!

Your profile was one of the first I followed when I joined the platform almost 2 years ago, I prefer to watch vlogs when looking for news because you can clearly see emotions and beliefs of the vlogger through the camera.
Despite the price, STEEM has seen tremendous growth in development during this bear market, I'm curious to see what happens when the crypto-winter is definitely gone, exciting times ahead for sure.

Happy birthday Steem! (and to your grandmother too) :)

In that time I used to do so much vlogs! That was fun. Nowadays a lot more people are vlogging on here. Once the bull returns we will see some fun times :)

wow steemit is changing life from the day 1 and the time is really flying Happy birthday to steemit

it's interesting when people say about the 'community' those are made up of the people. you were one of the very first people i followed and i'm glad to have watched your journey and learned so much from your vlogs and advice and passion for the platform, thanks for all you do for the blockchain. happy birthday to steem and all of us!

Thanks for saying that man! That's really nice. Happy Steem birthday to you too :)

That's really awesome. I have have goosebumps from reading this. Congratulations to all steemians. ☺

Congratulations!

Congrats Steem and congrats grandmother!

I joined Steemit in July 2016, like you. I've been here to witness the ups- and downs. I had no prior crypto- or blockchain experience before I joined and I had defintiely never owned a cryptocurrency.

3 years later, I'm still here, and I still consider myself to have slim to none knowledge, even though I have more knowledge now than before. The only thing I wish, is that the communication would've been better.

Whenever there are new updates and incoming changes, the information is always laid out in such a professional and "tech"-type of way that the average user doesn't understand what happens.

The average users on STEEM are not crypto or blockchain experts... And they will never be. The average users are Facebook, Twitter and Instagram users that sees an opportunity to make money for the same content they share on other platforms.

If the communication would've been better from the start, and if STINC would have realized what type of audience they have, I'm sure we would have reached new heights in a faster pace.

Shame I didn't meet steemit earlier :/

3 years already, I mean I´m not here from the absolute start, but I´m pretty happy to have found Seem before the "boom".

I just powered up some Steem and SBD last week. You better watch out, I am coming for you. My goal is to be a Dolphin by Thanksgiving this year, then my next goal is to move past you :) (I wish!).
