Last Chance To Save The World's Rarest Marine Mammal From Extinction

in #extinction7 years ago

Vaquitas ( Spanish for baby cow ) are on the brink of extinction and people are so much to keep them alive for as long as possible.

Vaquitas are also called Pandas because of the black circle around their eyes and seem to be very sensitive and fragile. According to researches, fewer than 30 remain in the wild.

Their diet consists of ocean fish such as Gulf croacker, bronze-stripe grunts, and at times even squid.

Of course they face many threats out in the wild but their biggest threat are the fishing gear they get caught in. They're known to die in gillnets used for sharks.

A plan is being proposed to save these innocent creatures and Mexico, the United States as well as China are going to take pride in rebuilding the almost extinct species.

This is a really interesting article. I do worry about the species only having 30 individuals, that seems like far too little to repopulate the species.
I hope it is not too late.
You post very interesting articles, I have given you a follow.

never heard that kind of dolphin neither seeing it from any encyclopedia...
thanks for sharing your thoughts about this. It opens awareness about it.
We pray that it won't be extinct too soon.

I never heard about this before.
Thanks for the knowledge and taking this initiative.
It's such a beautiful creature.

This is really a mind blowing article. The article teaches us to protect the environment against extinction. We have to protect them. Thank you for sharing with us your article. This is a mind opener to everybody. Thanks

Wow, I've just learnt something new. Thanks for sharing @Joseph

Thanks for bringing this to people's attention. I am resteeming.
Such wonderful creatures. It would be a tragic loss for the world.

They're known to die in gillnets used for sharks.

That is the price we pay for commercializing everything around us, sad...

They do look a bit like pandas. So cute yet so sad that they are on the brink of extinction.

good to see someone cares..
I'll share it in my personal twitter..

Let them be kept alive they look cute lol

Wow! I never knew something called Vaquitas existed, not to mention going to extinction. Makes me wonder, there's a whole lot I don't know about.

How many species are just going to shit, how many are gone because of us, most will be destroyed or dead by when we start giving a fuck as a whole.

NOOOO I was hoping to see one of these in person, we need to save them. Time is running out we need to act now!

As a member of the WDC this is something I am so passionate about, thank you for sharing! Verity

What a shame. Humankind should remember it is A part of the ecosystem, and that our intelligence does not give us right to dominate earth, but it DOES give us the responsibility to take care of it...

Congratulations @joseph!

Oh sorry ,as a human being we must save this type of innocent creachers.

Really nice post to create awareness, but it will be great if we can donate the income from this post for the organization who is taking care of this noble mammal.

All the best!

Wow thank you so much for sharing. This is very important everyone. Make sure to upvote.

Never heard about it which is sad , even in the documentaries that talk about the ocean life and so they didn't mention it which means its really low in numbers !

the number is shocking 30 in the world ! This is really horrifying.

Poor creatures their bad luck made them in the same world with humans !

I support this move and I hope something will be done so soon to save it from extinction!

That makes me mad at the present generation and sad for the coming one !

This breaks my heart
