I'm excited about the electric vehicles that are becoming available. I do really need a car for my commute. I've been a biker in the past, but I am a little more risk-averse these days. I'm hoping that my next car will be electric as I don't want to be belching out fumes. I need something with over 100 miles range that can handle motorways.
If you live and work in a city then a car can be a liability. There's nowhere to park and the traffic is terrible. Then a scooter could be ideal. These from Vmoto UK are pretty affordable and cost pennies a day to run. The smaller model has a removable battery, so you can easily charge it at home and possibly in the office too. Then you don't have to worry about finding a place to fill up.
I saw a few electric scooters on my recent trip to Berlin. They are coming out of China where they have serious pollution problems. I know they will still have coal power stations, but wind and solar could be contributing to drive their transport. Oil needs a lot of energy to convert to petrol anyway and then most of what it has is wasted as heat.
Im watching this space too, I want a car really and Im waiting to see what happens with the Tesla model 3. I have solar panels so charging my own vehicle seems promising, BUT the amount of panels you need to really charge up a car is more than most UK homes will have. That is where the scooters cme back into their own, much more efficient.
We will have to see how the space develops.
We don't have our own panels yet, but will be looking into it at some point. A Tesla 3 would be cool. I'm seeing more and more ecars around
If you go solar, remember to claim your www.solarcoin.org
Cool informative post. I may get a scooter next Spring we shall see.
