The year is 1999 and the Euro is on its way to become the new payment method in several countries across Europe. In several countries, they gave out a small euro collector with the new coins to introduce the citizens to the new coin and get them familiar with them. The euro is coming up and will make it easier for truck drivers and other travelers to not have any trouble anymore by having to change their money the whole time. The Euro stands for European Currency Unit. And will be finally realised in the year of 2002. People then would be able to change their old money for the newer coins the newer coins being more expensive than the old ones the prizes around did change quickly but, that was merely the start of the little downfall of the Euro. 
In today's current, we even can find back a few euro's with the date of 1999 as a reminder of the day they got created.
