RE: Selling Newbies to Deposit and Hold Bitcoins on a Website

in #etoro7 years ago

@sponge-bob, digital currency is awesome and I'm so glad I started steemit when I did. What is the best way to secure our bitcoin key?

The sharks will always come out for the easy prey. When I first started on Steemit, I remember reading post about bitcoin theft in several once legitimate wallets or investment houses.

I should make a post on that. Here is a quote from here that is pretty funny but to the point.

You don't need any OS on pendrive if you want to store wallet file. You just need to install Electrum portable on pendrive. If you want to make cold storage, better use paper wallet than storing bitcoins on pendrive using Tails OS. It's safe OS to generate paper wallets when you run bitaddress.org offline. Make mnenomic backup of your hot wallet and store this piece of paper safely. This lecture can be useful: http://www.wikihow.com/Hide-Things-in-Your-Room If you are already hiding things like drugs, you already have perfect place to hide your backups and paper wallets.

I actaully mined my coins so I created and exported my key from my miner (long since disassembled). I currently access my cold storage with Electrum.

I have created and given paper wallets. as mentioned in that quote above. They can be spent from using Electrum. Or if it's not a significant amount, blockchain.info offers wallets and an import function for private keys <-- but keys should never be typed into a live, online, site.

Risk is risk. I would do it for a hundred dollars worth of bitcoin. But I have seen too many sites hacked in my day.

cryptocurrency is gone crazy these days. but i love it!!!
