Hey everyone,

Last week, we shared some upcoming changes coming to the game. Today, we're excited to unveil the next phase of our journey with a significant new update.

As part of our long-term strategic planning, we've also taken a close look at our current project name. It's crucial to us that the name truly reflects the essence of what we're building. After extensive brainstorming, we've settled on a new name that we believe perfectly encapsulates our vision:

Ethgard Legends

Ethgard represents the fantastical world we're building, with a nod to the Ethereum ecosystem and Norse mythology. Meanwhile, Legends refers to the Heroes within the game, soon to be collectible and tradable cards on Base (Ethereum L2).

We're currently in the process of transitioning the website and game client and aim to finalize everything within the next few days.

Extended Pre-Sale

In line with the new name, we're extending the pre-sale period from May 5th to June 25th. This extension gives us additional time to finalize our smart contracts for on-chain pack opening on Base. Moreover, it provides new players with an extended opportunity to discover the game while the pre-sale is still ongoing.

Early pack purchasers can rest assured that they will maintain their advantage. While they will receive more promo cards (up to 130%), the extended pre-sale will offer a fixed normal rate (100%).

Our Vision

As part of our long-term planning, we've also outlined our vision and values, which can be summarized in two key goals, both equally essential:

  1. Delivering a game that offers engaging and high-quality free-to-play gameplay without barriers or paywalls.
  2. Ensuring true digital ownership of in-game cards and items through Ethereum L2/L3 chains.

Ultimately, our goal is to create an immersive gaming experience by blending the best of Web2 and Web3 technologies.

We hope you're as excited as we are to embark on this new journey with Ethgard Legends.

Stay tuned for more updates, as we have a lot more in store that we can't wait to share with you.

@therealwolf If you're transitioning away Splinterlands, do you still intend to mimic the card frame and background pattern designs?

Hey Nate, as mentioned in Discord, we are in the process of designing our own hero card layout/frame and backgrounds. The plan is to have them replaced before the actual mainnet launch.

It's sad it has come to this but at the same time, it's probably a great chance for the game to build its own identity, create its own community, and, maybe most importantly, make use of a blockchain that has a way brighter future than Hive ahead of it.

It's sad that we're moving away from the splinterlands name with Splinter Royale, but at the same time I completely understand the decision.

Either way I have been enjoying the game a lot and I'm here to support this project!

So no more HIVE and Splinterlands connection?

We will see what the future brings.
