Ethgardians, after rolling out two smaller updates (2.0.1 & 2.0.2) following our V2 launch, we’re excited to share our next major update: 2.1.0.
13 Updated Playable Heroes (incl. 7 New Heroes)
This update brings 7 brand-new playable heroes while reworking the abilities of our 6 existing heroes. The roster is now more strategic and unique gameplay-wise than ever before!
Meet the new Heroes: Aranthor, Valorian, Lyraeth, Mordren, Vexia, Seraphia, and Ryujin! |
New Feature: Slot Buffs
Another huge improvement is the new Slot Buff system.
Instead of heroes buffing the entire team, each hero now offers specialized slot buffs. These buffs affect only the units placed in the corresponding slots, boosting attack, health, or even granting entirely new abilities based on their position.

Scaling Slot Buffs
Slot buffs also scale with shop level, typically increasing to +2 at Level 3 and +3 at Level 5. Freya, however, caps at +2 on Level 4 due to the extensive buffs she provides.
New Ability Type: Attack Spells
This update also introduces Hero Spells, with Woda, Aranthor, Vexia, and Ryujin each debuting unique attack spells. These spells target one or more units on the board, adding a whole new layer of strategy to your battles.

What’s Next?
Next, we’ll focus on improving the competitive aspects of the game, including rewards - ensuring they are both meaningful and sustainable. We’ll also continue optimising the game for better visuals and performance.
So stay tuned, as the adventure has only just begun.
I opened ethgard legends website for the first time since it was rebranded from Splinter Royale and found this lovely surprise :D
Keep the updates on Hive blog coming, that's the only way I currently get news about this project 😅
I might get more invested again in how the project evolves soon, it was a lovely surprise to me too see that I can still log in with hive keychain, but sadly need and EVM wallet to claim the packs.
Great to see you, @tsnaks! Well, yes - those are your packs. You came back to a great time as well, since all of the hero artworks are now complete, so the unpacking experience is better than it has ever been before.
The EVM aspect really is just a technical aspect. We're still here on Hive, posting & interacting. At some point, Ethgard might even become chain agnostic, meaning multiple chains, etc.
Setting up an EVM wallet is fairly simple and you don't even need to pay the gas fees directly to claim & open packs. Only when you start doing more advanced actions such as forging items, etc.
But again, great to see you battling!
Sounds amazing, can't wait to try it 👍
Awesome to hear!
Looking forward to it. Could use a tutorial vid, or is there anything in game, couldn't see one ?
We currently don't have tutorials up, or at least ones that are up-to-date, since changes have been often and fast. But if you get into the game, most of it should be somewhat self-explanatory. If you have any questions you can also ask them on Discord: https://socials.ethgardlegends.com/discord
I don't know if they're just placeholders, but I think I could make a suggestion to create a unique visual identity. It's quite reminiscent of Splinterlands. I even thought it was a game derived from that.
Hey @wlfreitas, could you please elaborate more about this? I.e. what are you're referring to with placeholders & unique visual identity specifically? Thank you!
We're still using some of the icons as placeholders while we're still in Alpha; and of course the artworks of the unit cards.
I'm referring to the artwork and layout of the card, which is very much in keeping with the graphics of Splinterlands
Hey, thought I'd answer directly with my own account.
The style of the hero artworks was initially chosen by me to have synergy with Splinterlands artworks, as the game was initially called Splinter Royale and the unit artworks would match with the Heroes and would also fit within the world of Splinterlands. Was actually a lot of extra work we put on our table by doing it like that and now it looks a bit like we didn't choose our own style. Welp :D
For the future, we'll go a different route of course.
The card frame was already redone once, based on a bunch of research. The goal was to have simplicity and put a focus on the card artwork.
With this said, happy to chat more about this and thank you for the offer. You can reach me on discord: wolfonchain
