Greetings, Ethgard Legends Adventurers!
In our last update, we discussed our efforts to enhance the game-loop. After working tirelessly, we’re thrilled to announce that the first version of the improved "outer game-loop" is now live.
New Items: Chests, Rarity Cores, and Pack Fragments
These new items, in addition to Crowns (CROWNS) and Ethershards (ETHSHARD), are the core of our outer game loop. You can earn them in various ways - more below.
Chests
Let’s start with chests.
- There are 6 different rarities: Basic, Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Each rarity contains a range of rewards.
- Chests can be earned by winning matches (at least 4 round wins in battle mode).
- You can store up to 4 chests.
- Each chest takes 6 hours to unlock. Only one chest can be unlocked at a time, but this can be sped up by spending Crowns (100 Crowns per hour left).
Chest Rarities
Here’s a table showing the contents of each chest.
Chest Rarity | Crowns | Ethershards | Pack Fragment |
---|---|---|---|
Basic | 50 - 150 | - | - |
Common | 60 - 160 | 0.2 - 0.45 | - |
Uncommon | 70 - 170 | 1 - 2.5 | 3% |
Rare | 80 - 180 | 1.5 - 13 | 20% |
Epic | 90 - 190 | 10 - 63 | 80% |
Legendary | 100 - 200 | 20 - 180 | 220% |
Upgrade Heroes => Earn Better Chests
How do you get the different rarities? Great question!
Depending on the rarity of the Heroes you use in matches, you have a chance to get certain chests. Check out the table below.
Hero Rarity | Basic | Common | Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Basic | 100% | - | - | - | - | - |
Common | 95% | 5% | - | - | - | - |
Uncommon | - | 35% | 60% | 5% | - | - |
Rare | - | - | 35% | 60% | 5% | - |
Epic | - | - | - | 35% | 60% | 5% |
Legendary | - | - | - | - | 35% | 65% |
Additionally, winning at least 6 rounds in battle mode increases your chance of getting the highest rarity chest by 1%, while reducing the chance of the lowest rarity chest by 1%.
For example, if you’re using your Uncommon Alviss and win 7 out of 10 rounds, your chance to get a rare chest increases from 5% to 7%, and your chance to get a common chest decreases from 35% to 33%.
Upgrading Heroes? A Recipe for Success!
To upgrade a hero, you’ll need Crowns, a rarity core, and some NFT cards.
Here’s how to get the ingredients:
- Crowns: Earn them in chests, through quests (more on that below), or purchase them in the shop.
- Rarity Cores: Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary cores are earned by completing quests. Legendary cores are not yet obtainable, but we’re working on fun ways to obtain them.
- Cards: Get them by opening packs, purchasable in the shop. Once the cards are on the mainnet, you can also get them on the market.
Note that cards are not consumed by upgrading. As long as they are in your EVM wallet connected to your game account, your hero will maintain the rarity. This is referred to as "Card Rarity" in the game, while the upgrading process improves the "Unit Rarity". Both combined result in the "Hero Rarity."
Quests: Be Rewarded for Your Daily, Weekly & Monthly Progress
There are 3 types of quests available in the game:
- Daily: Refreshes every day at 0AM UTC.
- Weekly: Refreshes every Wednesday at 0AM UTC.
- Monthly: Refreshes every month.
Quests are currently the primary and only way to earn those valuable rarity cores, available in limited quantities in weekly and monthly quests. So, start unlocking them now!
Pack Fragments: Gotta Combine 'Em All!
Besides Crowns and Ethershards, you can also find Pack Fragments in Uncommon and higher chests.
Soon, you’ll be able to combine 24 Pack Fragments and 1000 Ethershards to create a new pack, which can be minted on-chain to be opened or gifted to friends. The created pack will also be removed from the purchasable packs in the shop, keeping the total supply of 300,000 Alpha packs.
Both Pack Fragments and Ethershards can only be earned by owning real assets (such as Onchain Cards).
Ethershards: So Shiny!
Besides creating packs, Ethershards will also be used to convert in-game soulbound items into tradeable on-chain items. While this feature is not yet implemented, it is an important aspect of our economy and tokenomics.
New Shortcut Domain
Last but not least, we've got a new domain to make it easier to share Ethgard Legends (EGL):
The domain will redirect back to ethgardlegends.com and is primarily used for easier spelling.
And that's it! Thank you once again for your continued support and feedback. We hope you enjoy the new update.
See you on the battlefield!
