Claiming EOS Tokens Costs Up to 8 USD - This Is The Price To Run Ethereum Contracts

in #ethereum8 years ago

I brought some EOS tokens on one of the daily token distributions and I discovered the recommended amount to run a contract is to set a max Gas Limit of 2000000 units and a gas price of 21 GWEI. That will lead to a max transaction fee of 0.042 ETH or 8.52 usd.

I was trying to set smaller amounts, to around 1usd(which I still consider high) and the transaction was rejected because it ran out of gas. However, the fees I set were paid so I lost those money even if the transaction was not confirmed.

That amount is amazingly high in my opinion. I'm not sure if eth devs are having any plan to work on it in order to reduce smart contracts fees, or if Casper update is going to lower the fees, but it's just a matter of time until eos will be alive. And there will be many people like me who will prefer reasonable fees(I think eos promised to have 0 fee to run smart contracts).

The discussion is probably wider than that, but this is another reason for me to think that Any Proof Of Work Cryptocurrency is Doomed to Fail on the Long Run

Yeah 8 usd is really high they gotta fix this or people will simply turn away to other cryptos.

Ironic, as this is one is the issues EOS aims to solve.

This is the limit I had to put to run the transaction, but it looked too high for me. I tried lower limit and the transaction failed because it ran out of gas. So I will claim all my eos at a later date, because I plan to buy more.

I read about 5-6 usd people paid to run the transaction which if too high.

Is it possible to make some contributions multiple days, and claim them all at once if it's just before the closing 30.june 2018'ish?

Was requesting 18.00 from me and then failed the contract. Ethereum contract failure looks to create some real headaches for it's own growth.

8 USD is very high

8 USD is ridiculously high.
I'm sure EOS will have no transaction fees one day but in it's ICO phase it looks like people are going to have to deal with these fees.
