The main problem is that a mass consumer does not understand at all what a crypto currency is and the one who first gets to the minds of a mass of small investors and explains the positive aspects of the detachment and will dictate the conditions on the market.
You are right and that's what I addressed in my piece, but with a different view. This technology is at a nascent stage and targetting mass market is a challenging task at the moment. However, targetting innovators (like individuals in academia) is a good way to target early adopters.
