This is Strange, I cannot go back and edit. I had an issue connecting to the pool on miner gate, however I was able to join nano pool with this connection string if it helps anyone out there.
ethminer -G -F http://etc-us-east1.nanopool.org:18888/0X3a5aec6dd656f16d506bc011fff7c8716359bbab/coininstant/webtactechs@gmail.com
