The Ethereum foundation announced on July 27th that the new Ethereum hard fork, Constantinople, would be released sometime during the second week of October.
The development team at Ethereum revealed that the test code for Constantinople has being run multiple times to insure that the transition occurs smoothly.
Constantinople is the second stage of a series of upgrades on the Ethereum network to insure the network runs efficient and the transaction fees stay low.
The first stage, Byzantium, went live in October 2017. The upgrade consisted of nine Ethereum Improvement Protocols (EIPs), with the goal to improve the Ethereum networks scalability, privacy, and security protocols.
The Ethereum development team also announced that there will be two more updates sometime in the future, adding Ethereum status channels and changing the way smart contracts interact with one another.
