"One of the worst aspects of crypto culture is the idea that because math and code are supposedly apolitical, we do not have to be polite." - Vitalik Buterin

Original tweet from Vitalik Buterin:

One of the worst aspects of crypto culture is the idea that because math and code are supposedly apolitical, we do not have to be polite.

A reply from 'Theodosius':

Security first, politeness when there is time and not in place of thinking about security :)

And my favorite bit of the exchange:

I'd rather have a consensus failure every year than intense constant bickering.

I am strongly in agreement with Vitalik. A few security incidents are not doing as much damage as the constant, unrelenting toxicity in the crypto space lately.

Sort:

I think good manners make everything better. You can have passionate disagreements... politely.

This sounds like the @steemit tech team., @demotruk

We all have to look at ourselves first. We can do our best to set a good example, and encourage others to follow.

Of course, @demotruk 🙂

I like the second comment better. Maybe he wants people to be nicer because of the amount of questioning he is not willing to answer about the security of a network based on who can inject most fiat.

We already know who can inject most fiat, we have been trusting security to them, and if it had worked out we wouldn't be looking at other alternatives.

What an embarrassment to crypto when ethereum poses as a decentralized crypto when it's clearly not. Of course he'd rather consensus fail so he doesn't have to hear people disagreeing with him - he gets to decide what happens alone anyway, doesn't need anyone else. There has never been a more toxic community than the ethereum community towards those who disagree with them. Let's remember Ethereum is also well known as "Chain of liars & thieves" https://medium.com/@WhalePanda/ethereum-chain-of-liars-thieves-b04aaa0762cb
