In their recent Medium post the developers of Etheremon have released three new Ether Monsters. These three additions are the first of twelve to be released in the upcoming days and the post notes that there may be genetic similarities between the gen0 and gen1 monsters. The implication of this is that the Battling Power of a gen1 monster will be increased by having its ancestor in your collection.
There's been a lot of doubt regarding the authenticity of the project and the intentions of the developers, but the recent updates show progress towards the development of an actual game, as opposed to a speculative pyramid scheme. They are striving to enable battling, trading, and lending in their next update and invite community members to review their smart contracts (in order to remedy any bugs) to ensure that they remove the feature that enables administrators to withdraw Ether from users. The latter initiative would address much of the skepticism regarding the project.
