Waterfall and Koi Pond Drone view now that our green algae water is fixed.
Those that have been following for a while may have seen a very early post we made of our Koi pond and Waterfall last summer. We had terrible problems with very green water from Algae blooms.
After some input from others on Steemit and additional research, we determined that since it gets a lot of sunshine, the only way to effectively combat the Algae Blooms was with a filter and UV light. We tried LOTS of algaecide last year with no joy. This year we have used zero algaecide, and just look at the great water!
This water is a little over 3 ft deep, and look how clear to see the rocks on the bottom, looks very shallow.
Last year was so green, couldn't see any rocks under the water!
This year we added a large filter, and a double 80W UV light. So far, been clean water for over a week now, which historically would only stay clear for 1 or 2 days before it was dark green.
There are actually several smaller waterfalls before the big drop into the pond, and the water also flows under the little rock walkway bridge. Here is the drone view from directly above the top portion.
Here is the drone view from above the lower pond portion.
Here is a closer view of the left side pre-waterfall.
And here is the right side pre-waterfall view.
View from below the pond.
And finally, the drone fly-over view.
All shots and video taken with Mavic Pro and ND16 filter. An interesting feature the Mavic has is being able to shoot these in portrait mode. Very much needed for this scene with it's tall height, and close proximity of trees on two sides and house on the third side. That meant I had to fly manually as well, instead of using the Mavic "object of Interest" smooth circling feature.
