AL-QURAN GIVES THE ORIGIN OF THE EARTH [Round OR Flat]

END-the end of the debate in social media about the shape of the earth. Some bring evidence that they claim to be proof that the earth is not round as taught so far. Others argue with strong evidence as well. Each presents evidence and arguments, be they science or logic arguments.

When reading the debate on this issue, I suddenly remembered a verse in the Qur'an. Yes, a verse in the Qur'an. The verse clearly indicates the earth round.

More than 1000 years ago, God has explained the shape of the earth.

Perhaps there are some who consider the subject of the round earth is not the time anymore, because the round earth is so real. Already many astronauts who see firsthand the round earth form from space. They rise far out of the earth, to see the shape of the earth directly round. There is a lot of logical proof that the earth is round.

This means that this round earth problem is something final, discuss it is not important. There are still many more useful things.

This is also said Prof. Dr. Thomas Djamaludin, an astronomer who served as head of the National Institute of Food and Space (LAPAN).

Many are asking about the resurgence of understanding "Flat Earth" (flat earth). Understanding is classified as pseudo science aka pseudo science. Packed as if it were scientific, actually had no scientific basis at all. When associated with the arguments of the Quran, it is also based on the old interpretation. But the subject of the earth round to the Qur'an not only solely responds to the discussion of flat earth, but rather to explain the meaning of signals that exist in the Qur'an. In order to increase the faith of the Muslims in the Qur'an, also introduce the miracle of the Qur'an to those who have not believed.

Just as the diseases that to the layman was vague, but for the doctor was not vague but clear. Like reading clinical lab results. The layman can not read it, but for the doctor it is very clear. So vague here is different.

The gesture can be caught from the meanings of the word Qur'an. Words indicate a meaning, which means that it is implied to a certain nature in the real world. Sometimes that meaning is not clearly captured by many people. But it is clear to scholars who understand the Qur'an.

An example of vague signals for the layman and clear to scholars, is the sign of the earth round.

This gesture is in the letter of Az Zumar verse which reads:
خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ يُكَوِّرُ اللَّيْلَ عَلَى النَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ النَّهَارَ عَلَى اللَّيْلِ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ يَجْرِي لِأَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى أَلَا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ
He created the heavens and the earth with the true (aim); He shuts the night over the day and shuts the day off over the night and subdues the sun and moon, each running at the appointed time. Remember He is the Mighty, the Forgiving

Al Qur'an is with Arabic, so if we see its contents also with arabic language. Well which word indicates the earth is round?

The scholars insist that the word yukawiru has a twisted meaning, which is to wrap around a round. They give an example of a turban, which is to wrap a turban. This is the sign of the round earth form of the above verse.

This harsh gesture is also understood by scholars. Let's look at their explanation:

Shaykh Uthaymeen, the famous cleric from Saudi Arabia, said:

The earth is round in accordance with the Qur'anic proposition, the reality and the sayings of the 'ulama. The Qur'anic proof is the verse Az Zumar: 5. Takwir is making something like a ball, like wrapping a turban to the head. And as it is known that day and night occur in turns on the earth. So the shape of the earth should be round. For if you wrap something in something else, and the earth in this case is bound by day and night, then the earth is supposed to be round

While in Tafsir Juz Amma Al Ghasyiyah letter, Sheikh Utsaimin stated

Shaykh Uthaymeen said:

the word takwir means is tadwir, (meaning tadwir means to rotate). We know that day and night are alternately enveloping the earth. If both are played, then the earth should be round shape

Sheikh Muhamad Amin As Syinqithi, the author of the commentary Adhwa'ul Bayan, explains this verse:

Takwir means wrapping. In Arabic the word is known: wrap a turban on the head.

Then he explains the meaning of the word takwir which means to rotate, that is because it contains the meaning of round. Among them is the translation of the word in Arabic word kurah:

because the origin of the word كرة in Arabic is كورة.

Then As Syinqithi quotes from Abul Husein ibnul Munadi about the form of the earth:

there is no difference among scholars that the shape of the sky is like a ball. And the sky revolves with the stars in it, like a spinning ball between two unmoving edges, one in the north, and one in the south

Likewise they agree that the earth and all its movements both oceans and the land are like a ball.

The proof is the sun, moon and stars, unfolded and drowned in the same time all over the earth, but in the east it rises earlier than the western earth.

The rounded earth is in place in the middle of the round sky, like a point inside the circle.

Shaykh Shinqithi goes on:

this is the excerpt of ijma 'from a qualified priest in the science of reason and syar'i proof, that the earth is rounded as a ball. And he also put forward a strong proposition of the movement of heavenly bodies about it

Ibn Assyria, the Tunisian scholar who writes the commentary At tahrir wan tanwir says:

The origin of the takwir word is from the noun kuroh (meaning ball), which is a round and equal object on all sides. And the shape of the earth is round and this is the reality, and this is not known to the Arabs and many humans, then the Qur'an hints at it by declaring two conditions covering the earth turns, ie light and dark, or night and day, day and night with the shape of a wrap, because the shape that is bounded is definitely round, following the verb wrap. Since the context of this verse is to prove the righteous nature of God, that is, to create the heavens and the earth, the word takwir or twisted to show the follow-up of creation, that is to create two great conditions on earth, not another word like covering the used in the letter of Al Araf 54

Thus the clerical commentary on the globular cues of QS Az Zumar verse 5. It turns out that the Qur'an already implies that the earth's shape is round, long before any debate in this day.

When the Qur'an has affirmed, then for the believer, there is no choice but to follow the Qur'an.
