Medan City, besides famous to the metropolitan city and various of halal's culinary tours there are also various historic buildings that can visited, including the Maimun Palace and Mesjid Raya Medan. Maimun Palace is one of the attractions found in the city of Medan. The building is very beautiful and interesting because it is a blend of Islamic tradition and European culture.
This historic building is open to the public daily from 08.00 to 17.00 Western Indonesia Time. According to some reliable sources, Maimun Palace is a sultan palace of Deli founded by Sultan Maimun Al-Rashid Perkasa Alam Shah, so the palace is named with "Maimun palace". The name was taken from the name of its founder. The cost for the historic building was about one million Dutch guilders in 1888. The building is one of the historical evidence of the greatness of the Malay Kingdom of Sumatra.
This building consists of two floors divided into three parts, namely the main building, the left wing, and the right wing. Geographically, this historic building is located on Jalan Brigjend Katamso. The design of the building was made by an Italian architect. Maimun palace building design is very thick with a distinctive style of Malay, that is: this building is dominated by yellow.
Inside the Maimun palace is there are 30 rooms that are used to store various European style ornaments or furniture, such as bedding, chairs, crystal chandeliers, and cabinets.
