. It was the only decision you could have made at that time, given your biology, psychology, or whatever gee that was affecting you at that moment. Growing old helps you see that if that never happened, it wouldn’t lead you here, to this realization, to this awakening, and the event now makes sense even if it doesn’t make it right.
