The High Court has postponed the Gazipur City Corporation elections for next six months.
A joint bench of the High Court Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order on Sunday.
The High Court gave this verdict in response to a writ petition filed by Shimulia area in the city corporation.
Deputy Attorney General Mokhlesur Rahman confirmed the matter to the reporters.
Advocate GM Ilias Kochi, hearing the petition for adjournment of the court, Deputy Attorney General Mokhlesur Rahman was present in the state.
According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, elections will be held on May 15 in Gazipur City Corporation. Meanwhile, the election campaign got overcast. Meanwhile, the High Court gave a stay on this election.
