BMKG confirmed that it did not make predictions that there will be megathrust earthquake in Jakarta (CNN Indonesia / Andry Novelino)
Jakarta, CNN Indonesia - The Indonesian community has been informed about the prediction of a megathrust earthquake of a maximum of 8.7 magnitudes in Jakarta called Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
Humas BMKG, Hary T Djatmiko, in his statement on CNNIndonesia.commjelaskan that it is not true if BMKG is said to have predicted megathrust earthquake will occur in Jakarta.
BMKG says that while experts are able to calculate the maximum magnitude of earthquakes in megathrust zones, the current technology has not been able to predict precisely, let alone ascertain when the megathrust earthquake occurred.
