Windy and wet the whole day, a surprise at the end of the post!
The best way that I could show you the wind is with the "Speckled Pigeon" above. Note how he closes his eyes against the gusts of wind. The problem here is that it is not a constant wind, but rather fierce intermittent gusts. Some so strong that they blow people's hats and scarves all over the place.
However the good thing about the wind is that it brings much needed rain.
Let's have a look!
To give you an idea about the travelling clouds!
Weird! A weak sun and raindrops in the fishpond!
Rain cloud gone and sunlight again!
Not for long as another cloud building up!
A flock of "Red winged Starlings" passing by!
A couple of geese heading home!
Colored cloud ribbons just before sunset!
Finally, the show of the day is over. Finito!
The coastline of the Western Cape is littered with shipwrecks and many years ago it became known as the "Cape of Storms". I suppose many ship captains were fooled by a glassy sea that was suddenly whipped into a gale force of wind and waves that rammed their ships onto the rocks.
They don't call it the "Cape of Storms" for nothing!
This is the HMS Birkenhead on the Cape rocks. Photo by Charles Dixon.

Even to this day with modern technology and weather forecasts, every now and again we read of a ship, or a boat that's hit the rocks on the Cape coastline. Strange weather here indeed!
Hope that you have enjoyed another post by @papilloncharity.

thank you for those amazing pictures!
Thank you and glad that you liked them my friend!

What cool shots that first shot really shows the effect of the wind
I think the vast stretch of open ocean front of the bay influences the direction and the force of the winds JJ.
If a hurricane, or a tornado strikes continents up north, there's nothing in the way that can stop the accompanying winds from battering us here down south.
I hope you are okay, as didn't see you in #qurator yesterday?
Blessings!
That makes sense
Yes all is ok I was on vacation fir a few days with the kids and grandkids so took a break from steemit but I’m back now
Great and it sounds like you enjoyed the short break JJ.
Marian's parents landed here at the airport in the Cape at 4 o clock today and they will visit us tomorrow morning. They are staying for two weeks and it's always a good thing for her to see her parents.
Glad you are back safe and sound my friend.
Blessings!
Wishing you and Marián great times with her parents 👍😎

I like reading your blog, it's like a brand new story coming out from the similar things you see every day...like a slice of life anime except that it's about nature (and photographs) instead of a typical anime.
By the way, strong winds can be a little unexpectedly dangerous here...most trees aren't prepared for that and might just get blown down if it happens :P
Thank you for the great comment here my friend.
I like to use nature as a medium to tell my stories.
It is normally the trees with pen roots (one main root that penetrates deep into earth) that are the survivors in strong winds.
Trees with shallow roots don't stand a chance against hurricane strength winds.

wow that pigeon shot is pretty unique to see. The fish pond shots are so amazing
Thank you Vibi,
I thought that it was the best thing to use to show the wind.
It has been raining here off and on since this post, even this morning.
The rain drops into the fish pond fascinated me.
Thank you for your kindness.
Blessings!
Yeah amazing way of showing us wind :)
Your photos are so great.
Thank you my dear friend!
Blessings!
Nice post. The photo of the leaf and fish was my favorite. Batten down the hatches, looks like you are coming into the rainy windy season.
Thank you my friend.
You are so right as the winter rains have arrived and today it was likewise.
Fortunately we moved here last year during winter and so we know what to expect.
Glad you saw what I did in the leaf and the fish.
Blessings!
Storms whip up off the sea very quickly down there, feel like Mary Poppins when carrying an umbrella being swept down those gusty roads.
Another great end to the day with amazing sunset.
Thank you Lady Joan.
I like your Mary Poppins analogy.
Blessings!
wow beautiful bird sir. absolutely amazing photographs.
I really like this pictures.
What an amazing eye. Beautifully taken photographs.
Here in the UK, not only wet & windy for a day but almost almost 1 month now that the rain will just slow down for like 2 hours .
Nice to read About Western Cape’s History, Cape of Storms.
Thanks for sharing dear Papillon!
Blessings
Howdy sir papilloncharity! I had no idea the weather was so difficult there, I can see why there were so many shipwrecks, wow! Very interesting post and great photos as usual!
