Stopping for the roses

in #esteem6 years ago

While out for a drive on a North Carolina back road, charmingly named Max Patch Road, who could resist stopping to take photos of the roses along the road?

And then continuing along looking for more lovely things to take photos of! I love going on picture taking drives, where the sole purpose is stopping to take photos of all the interesting things you come upon.

Wow. Those photos are amazing... especially that first one - it would make a beautiful painting! I miss the South... having lived in Georgia for many years, there's nothing like it.

Thanks! Georgia is very beautiful too! I haven't spent nearly enough time exploring there.

Lovely photos, beautiful place! :)

Thanks much, Bruce!☺️

Dang Melinda where are you? Hobbitown? :) It's like a dream.

It's becoming a bit of a distant memory, but driving those North Carolina Backroads in the Z with the top down was an amazing place to be!

Wonderful! I never would guess this is US.

There are many beautiful rural areas in the US. You just have to get off the interstate highways and go looking for them!

This is so beautiful !! It looks a bit like in France here in the Alps ! 😉
This is so enjoyable to drive and stop for the photos when you feel the scene has to be shot because it is too wonderful to disappear.. I know and love this feeling indeed 😊

The Smokey Mountains may be even more rural and rustic than the Alps, but those roses are just as beautiful as the flowers in the Alps! I do miss having Jim to go for picture taking drives with.

I feel Jim is enjoying, through your eyes and your contentement, every beauty you are seeing and appreciating...he is never very far from you, especially in those momentss of great appreciation of the nature and beauty surrounding you... 😉

What a sweet thing to say! Thank you.

Just my deep (knowing)feeling my dear, and when it is sweet to be told, then I have to tell it.. 😘 ;-)

Nice car, hehe.

We traveled a lot of roads with the top down and had so much fun in that car!

I hope you have good dental insurance, hehe.
BTW photos are great. That wooden fence is awesome.

Thanks so much! Dental insurance was necessary for me gritting my teeth when Jim was driving it like a race car! Driving was his love and I never wanted to ruin it for him by nagging, so sometimes I had to bite my tongue! The car got sold when Jim got cancer and was no longer able to drive it, but we had 10 years and many miles of fun with it!

I love these photos. I always tell you but your photos are wonderful! I love these roses are beautiful😍

Thanks! I always have wondered who Max Patch was. He should have been proud to have this beautiful road named after him. Maybe he owned that little farm.

Surely. It must be wonderful to visit this beautiful place😍

Beautiful photos .... I would like to take a walk there :)

It would have been an ideal place for a walk.

Wow! What a beautiful place Melinda! It looks almost so English. Great find and thanks for sharing with us.

Those roses could certainly be in England, couldn't they? Thanks for stopping by. It's been far too long since I've been over to see what you been up to! I don't know how that happens.😒

I have spent very little time in North Carolina. Gorgeous photos. I always love a good country shot with a barn :)

The winding twisty roads in North Carolina were probably Jim's favorite place on earth. Matter of fact there is a road called The Dragon, and that is where we decided to spread his ashes. There is a memorial stone in the cemetery, but the guys spread his ashes from the back of a motorcycle and I'm positive he would have been delighted!

A nice idyllic corner on Earth away from the strife. It looks so peaceful. Simply beautiful.

Driving those windy twisty country roads through the Smoky Mountains is idyllic! I love the photos I was able to take in that part of the world!

Yes, very nice photos.

Wow! These photos are superb @melinda010100 I love the old world charm of those barns, wooden fences and beautiful pink roses to enhance your photos even more. The countryside is very picturesque indeed.

Thank you for sharing this appealing visual treat with us. (U & R )

Thanks, luv! I'm happy you like them! It was a beautiful spot for taking pictures!

You're very welcome Melinda. I think that first photo would look wonderful in a frame. I really love it.

That's so nice of you to say! It is right up there on my list of favorite photos.

That is not difficult to understand Melinda. I love everything about it.

Beautiful photos, the roses are lovely. And what beautiful scenery, the winding road leads to a sense of old-fashioned romance.

Thanks for sharing 🙂

Thanks! So glad you like them!

You've. Got to stop and smell them

So colourful and mind blowing views all around.

Howdy Melinda! oh my gosh these are some fun pictures! I like the roof patch on that old building that's about to fall down! Wonderful flowers and scenic views though!

Glad you liked these! I wondered if they were still using that old log barn. I am way behind today. Still not feeling well and I slept much of the day away. I did stay awake to listen to the MSPwaves interview with Ned and I'm so glad that I did.

what, another interview with Ned? I thought they just did one?

He is making a sincere effort to be available, answer questions, and work with the team. I am so hopeful that he can keep it up. I get the feeling that he was pretty isolated from the community part of Steem and is enjoying what he is finding.

I bet you're right about him, well that is very encouraging news!

Just my instinct, but I like the guy! The link to the interview should be up tomorrow. Listen if you get a chance. I intend to listen again. My connection was crappy today and I know I missed stuff.

ok, YOUR connection was crappy? Not because of your internet service right?

How beautiful i can smell the roses and country side from here :))

Absolutely breathtaking 🌸💖🌸

Very pretty area! I love the rolling hills in that second-to-last shot. It looks like there are some nice old barns out that way, too!

It is beautiful and definitely rural!

Very nice photos. The roses remind me of the bushes we have in our back yard. I haven't been to North Carolina since I was a kid, but it would be nice to get back there some day. Those roads remind me of the ones in Kentucky near where my sister used to live.

This area in NC is very similar to rural areas in Kentucky. There really is so much beauty in our world!

They lived in Wilmore just oustside of Lexington and the roads were like rollercoasters!

We used to go looking for those kinds of roads! They were the grey roads on the maps I was using. Fun driving with the top down!

I miss real maps sometimes. Even with GPS I still like to know where I am going ahead of time!

I have loved maps since I was a kid and always have one close at hand when I am traveling. I love GPS in the city, but on rural roads I want to make my own choices!

I had a job once where I had to go house to house back before GPS. My city map was my lifeline!
