Beautifully Sublime

Baha’i House of Worship in Wilmette, Illinois

I visited as a tourist and it is an impressive architecural sight to see.

The Baha'i World Faith, which began in Iran in the mid-19th century, was brought to America in 1892.

The religion’s teachings include a oneness of humanity and of religions, equality of the sexes, universal peace and the separation of religion and politics.

The temple took nearly a half-century to design and build and was dedicated in 1953. Overlooking Lake Michigan, with it's 20 story high dome, the temple is the only one of its kind in North America. It is the oldest of seven Baha'i Temples in the world and is open to people of all races, cultures, nationalities and religions

The 9 sided lacey structure is the centerpiece to a brilliantly colorful garden of reflecting pools, lovely flowers and trees.

There are an estimated 750,000 members in the United States, the largest community outside of India.
