At first glance it looks like a duku fruit. The round fruit is yellow with several black spots around it and generally cluster together in one stalk. This typical Maluku fruit is found in almost all parts of Maluku and can thrive in all plains. The fruit that looks ordinary but turns out to be special is called Langsat.
Langsat fruit is indeed still one family with fruit duku with the Latin name Lansium domesticum. Although it has many similarities in terms of its outer appearance, Langsat fruit has many significant differences with the duku fruit that we commonly encounter. From the tree, the Langsat fruit looked thinner than the thick leafy duku fruit. Langsat fruit stems are not as big as duku fruit stems and have an upright branching with dark green leaves. The next difference is the fruit that has thinner skin than the fruit duku, besides that Langsat fruit has a more acidic taste and more sap content than duku fruit. This causes the Langsat fruit to decompose faster when picked from the tree than the duku fruit. In general, within about 3 days the skin of Langsat fruit will blacken even though the taste of the fruit is still good.
