Pokemon Go: Generation Five (Unova Region) Pokemon Released

After a slow start when the original Pokemon Go mobile game released, Niantic has initiated the launch of the next generation of Pokemon for the community. It took almost a year to get past the first generation of Pokemon but they have now launched the fifth generation into the mobile game in a little over three years since starting. Generation Five comes from the Unova Region which was based on the games Pokemon White and Black. This is somewhat interesting for me as it is the other Pokemon Game that I never experienced in the main game series.

It seems to be a broad release contrary to previous starts to new generations as the new Pokemon have been deployed across the game, not only appearing in the wild. Here is a detail of which Pokemon will be initially available and how they can be found:

Wild: Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, Pidove, Blitzle
2km eggs: Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, Pidove
5km eggs: Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Blitzle, Drilbur, Foongus
10km eggs: Ferroseed, Klink, Litwick, Golett, Deino
Raids: Lillipup, Patrat, Klink
Regional: Pansage (Asia), Pansear (Europe), Panpour (Americas), Heatmor (Western Hemisphere), Durant (Eastern Hemisphere)

In addition, Shiny forms of the Pokemon Patrat and Lillipup will be available to catch if you are lucky enough to run into them! I think this is the first time that a new wave of Pokemon come immediately with their Shiny forms. Lastly, Niantic have also announced that they will be adding a new item to obtain called the Unova Stone. They will be available from Research Breakthroughs and will probably be linked to evolving some Pokemon from prior generation which have new evolutions in Generation Five (similar to the Sinnoh Stone). I was caught by surprise with this as it seems that it was in the midst of already plenty of content for the community! Now we have even more to go and catch!
