Craft Fair for MarketFriday - Part 2

in #esteem6 years ago

It's Friday Steemit people, and Friday is MarketFriday hosted by our lovely Denise, @dswigle. Have I ever told you I love Marketfriday? I guess I have, many times :D

Last week I posted half of my photos I took at this craft fair and now I'm back with the other half. You can check my first post here Craft Fair for MarketFriday.

So let's see the other half, shall we?

This is not for vegans, my apologies, but this is also part of the market. It's a local manufacturer, a good one, wll known. He's offering good quality products, traditional ones. The factory dates back to the 19th century and is working since, except for the communist period when it was confiscated, like all the private properties.

After salami, sausages and other meat products, you need some good quality cheese, Romanian delicatesse, as the sign says. I can see some sweets there but don't know the exact name for that. It's kalács in Hungarian, cozonac in Romanian, Google translation says sweet bread and sponge cake. English speakers, help me out here, which one is it?

Souvenirs for kids and grown ups made of wood and not only. If you look hard enough you can find something to buy, like those wooden spoons. The problem is that I already have so many :)

This is something heavenly good. It's a waffle, but it's very thin and it's not sweet, it's salty with cumin, sesame seeds, garlic. After you can have a homemade, fresh strawberry, elderberry and lemon juice with ice.

Sheep, goat and cow cheese, you can even taste it.

That's homemade bread with potato and next to it you can see some Turkish delight and other sweets.

Pickles? :) Cucumber, cauliflower, red pepper, hot pepper, horseradish, tarragon in vinegar, zacusca (Romanian vegetable cream) with beans and eggplants, rose hip and plum jam.

Rhubarb? Yes, please! :) I love rhubarb! I usually make rhubarb juice with a bit of honey, rhubarb pie (yummy) and once I made strawberry and rhubarb jam.

Cheese and other dairy products from Ibanesti, a place well known for it's dairy products. Look at that small wooden recipient, that's used to keep cheese in it.

Look at how many good things you could get here :)

Cheese, cheese, and more cheese of all kind!

It was the opening day and this guy in Romanian traditional costume was singing some traditional songs.

This lady was next on the stage.

These are toys made of wood. I can appreciate this because it's ecologic and durable. Kids love these.

Yes, you're right, cheese again :)

These are painted plates. I'm not saying they are hand painted because I didn't ask and they seem too perfect to me, but who knows? I could have picked one or two from there. I love that heart and the floral one on the right.

This is for @melinda010100, it's my favorite. It's wood and it's beautiful!

Lavender based products, canvas and cosmetics.

And this is heaven again. Look at those yummy products. Let me list a few. Apple, peach, pear, blackberry, elder, apricot, raspberry, rose, blueberry, mint, cattle, cherry, plum, quince and pine. On those bigger bottles are juice and you can also see jams.

And here it comes the usual question: what would you buy from here?

I am so focused on the variety of cheese that I almost missed the waffles. I would like to try some with sesame seeds. But cheese is among my favorites.

I'm glad you liked it. Do you have waffles like this in Bulgaria?

No, we don't. And I would love to try.
Oh, and the sweet bread, in Bulgarian it sounds more or less like in Romanian.

I guess many words are similar.

OMG, you shouldn't show us those yummy cheeses and salami and chorizos and so on! Besides getting hungry, I'm craving for them and they remind me of my beautiful Portugal! It's not fair...
I love the handicraft, it's indeed wonderful! But I still like the FOOD more :)))!
Xoxo, sweetie!

Oh, I truly understand you :) Sorry for making you hungry and I'm glad you like my MarketFriday :)

You're so welcome!

I want cheese!!

Cheese? I would have sworn you would choose something sweet :) Ok, cheese it is :D

I wouldn't walk out from that fair without a wooden toy car or plane for my boy. Haha! 😉

And I would definitely try those traditional Romanian cheese and sausages! And of course, pickles for me!!!

Thank you my dear Erikah for sharing this beautiful fair. 😉

That's the best thing at these markets, there is something for everyone, right? I'm so glad you liked my MarketFriday! And there's more to come :)

Well, a lot of good things ... I'm all known and I'm glad of that!

Thank you! Now I'm off to see your post and others.

My pleasure! Wait for you...

nice entry today too...thanks for this @erikah

Thank you @mcsamm! I'm going to check out your post.

wonderful fair !!!! we must eat very tightly at home before going there :))))

*what a moment!!!!!!!
*very nice!!

Great market and pics! I love rhubarb too, but I coudln't eat it when I was a child because it gave me hives. Maybe I should try it again sometime soon!

Thank you and yes, you should give it a chance!

We used to grow it in our garden in Scotland, but I think it would be too hot here for it in the summer. I can buy it in the supermarket though. My Mum used to make rhubarb pie and jam too. Sometimes we would just have stewed rhubarb with custard. Finally, we discovered what was causing my hives though, so I have not eaten it in years!

Some are allergic to strawberries. You have to be careful, a pharmacist told me that with age people tend to develop more allergies. So trying it out again might not be a very good idea.

I love that you love Market Friday. I really do. It seems so silly but I love to see all the markets from all over the world. I especially love that you always try to show off Romania and it's traditional Values that have sometimes been left behind for the newer. It is so awesome to walk through the market with you.

I especially love that first picture where gave you a sample of what you were going to see at the craft fair period part one was amazing and so I look very forward to part 2. Oh my gosh yes yes! The sausage products and salamis. I remember those so well from when I was in Romania and many of the other Slavic countries. It is a fact that at one time it is a fact that it one time Romania was coming this but I think you and Dan @bluemoon are the only two that I ever acknowledged having been anything else. It's a real fact of life and sometimes it Bears remembering so that history should never repeat itself.

You are such a temptress with all those Delicacies. The cheeses the breads all things yummy and delicious. The sweet bread and sponge cake that you were looking for the words I believe would be called sponge cake. There are very few things that we refer to as sweet bread. That is more of European phrase. I look at those Wooden Spoons fondly because I bought many while I was there and as a matter of fact I went to a fair yesterday, sort of like the crafts Fair although it's called the mother earth Fair and I bought, you guessed it, a wooden spoon. There's just something about them that I love. Especially when I am watching the girl carpet right in front of my very eyes. Hand done crafts are always the best in my opinion. I can feel the love in them.

The thin waffle. Oh my gosh. Now you've got me. It has been so long, so very long since I have had one, I can no longer remember the taste. The only thing I do remember is that it tasted good. And yes if it were up to me I would be taking potato bread and and put in a little butter on it and eating it right there. I do love my bread. I guess to be honest I do love my food. That's an amazing selection of cheeses and Foods first and Cheese's and cheeses and cheese. I could live on cheese.

It is so nice to find a place that is proud of their Heritage and their traditional dress. I can remember going to Transylvania and seeing more of the traditional clothing than anywhere else in Romania. Of course that is only my opinion and it is the places that I traveled, so I may be totally wrong on that.

The wooden toys have always been the very best and they are made did he passed on and on which is what we all want, right? And it goes without saying that I love those painted plates and could walk away easily with a few of them. How anybody can paint like that is beyond me, but we both know if they're perfect they probably are not hand-painted. Although I have to be honest and say that some people are that good. Not this person but I am sure there are people. How amazing that they had everything there that one could want. From jams and juice to cosmetics, cheese and salami bread and beautiful crafts. This was an amazing day, I am sure and I am so happy that you took us along with you. I love your Market Friday posts and you always strive to bring me the best. Thank you so much for that and thank you for participating in Market Friday.

Much love to you, my friend.

Tip!

Holly heaven, you wrote a novel to me, which I'm very glad for! I'm so glad you like these fairs and the products they are selling, especially if you've already visited Romania. MarketFriday for me is a special day and I'm always trying to bring something special. People like these things and so do I :)
Thank you so, so much dear Denise! Hugs and kisses and have a nice day, evening :)

Mulțumesc pentru cuvintele frumoase! XOXOX

Awww, how sweet! Do you speak Hungarian too? You know my first language is Hungarian, right? 😁

Less Hungarian but I do speak some because I was engaged to a man from Budapest for about a year. He taught me every swear word he knew. Oh my God I have no idea. He thought it was cute right up until his mother asked me what words I have learned.
