What Is Truth? (Blurred Lines)

in #esteem7 years ago

In my last post, I said that the only way to protect oneself from believing wrongly and reaping the consequences that comes with wrong beliefs is to always ask "What is Truth?"
I also promised that we will be getting answers to that question in my next post, which is this.

Thinking about this question, I realized that I can't explicitly explain what Truth is, as I learn more and more on the subject, daily.

I had to go back to my previous writings at the times I had gotten inspired by experiences and discoveries. So I compiled some of them, and added other recent inspiration and discoveries.

This is what I have learnt about Truth

  • You don't have to understand, believe, agree to, or practice it before it is validated as Truth.

Truth is Truth; it does not depend on me and you for its validation.

  • Truth does not need hostility.

Don't try to fight and get hostile in a bid to defend the Truth, it's not your duty.
Just speak and present the Truth and stand by it.

Truth defends self. Truth always wins, and will always do so.

  • The devil holds you bondage through the Truth you don't know, or the lie you believe. (Remember our talk on mind programming?)

You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free.

  • Have a hunger for the Truth. You will be wise.

  • Truth is not always bitter.

Sometimes it simply sets you free.

  • Whatever it is you choose to believe, you will find reasons to keep believing. Believe what you will, it's your right, but always search for the Truth. Always.

The Truth shows up to those who sincerely seek to know.

  • When you can tell yourself the Truth, no matter how it hurts, you are ready for the better thing.

  • When a honestly mistaken man is presented with the Truth, he either ceases to be mistaken, or he ceases to be honest.... (Anonymous)

  • A person who doesn't know the Truth has a defect.

  • Truth is Standard and Definite.

Truth is a Pure Breed, and not A Hybrid. It is either Truth, or it's not.
We say 'The Truth', and not 'A Truth'.

There's a story in the Bible where Jesus was asked by Pilate "What is Truth?"

But long before Pilate asked, Jesus had earlier told His disciples that He is the Truth, so I dare say that...

  • Truth is a Person.

Jesus tell us what is, and what will be. He guides and guards.

Having said all these, here's something else about Truth.

People seem to have different definitions for Truth. These different definitions have led to people believing that Truth is relative.

They say: "What you consider as Truth, may not work for me, and if it doesn't, then it is not Truth to me."

With the above mindset, everyone decide what they choose to treat as Truth, and everyone is oversensitive to their own set boundaries, and we are in a deeper trouble than we were in when we didn't know what Truth was.

I think that there should be a standard, a right way, against which every other definition of truth, right, or wrong can be compared.
There has to be, or else we will get lost because only blurred lines exist.

When there are blurred lines, anything goes. When anything goes, we have no direction. Without a direction, we are aimless. If we are aimless, what differentiates us from the animals?

The Truth for every matter exists, and is singular. So when faced with one, search for the Truth, for as earlier said, if you honestly search for the Truth, you'll find.

In my next post, I'll be sharing a funny personal experience to show what happens to our minds when we refuse the Truth.

I wonder if people have given up on searching for truth.
The Truth Project has a great and detailed insight into truth as well.

@macans Please tell me more about this project.
