image I forgot which side of Prambanan Temple Compound is this

Nope.. I am not Geologist not even Archaelogist😊 aahh I missed @ahmadzaki, someone who shared about Aceh Historical sites, and I think that he inspired me to enjoy the ancient architectural place like Prambanan Temple when I was in Yogyakarta. When other people busy to take self photos, My Hubby couldn't stopped me from busy talking to the stones😂.

Some big earthquakes that had happened since 9th century after The Prambanan Temple established has a big impact for those stones piles. I wonder how people crafted the relief on the Andesite stone beautifully. You know.. there's no evindence found around the place about a stone printed machine😅

image you can find the similar relief at every temples at the compound, pricesly similar, this is the Sacred Life Tree, Kalpataru

According to All about Prambanan, it supposed to be 240 temples but only 18 left and that's reconstructed since 1918-1953, especially the biggest one or Shiva Temple. 47 meters height and 34 meters wide. This is a biggest and Beautiful Hindu Temple in South East Asia after Angkor Watt in Cambodia.

These temple has 4 gates, but only the South Gate still exists. The temple face to the east, even though this temple was built to worship 3 gods in Hindu, Brahma the Creator, Wishnu/Vishnu the Care Taker/Protector and Syiwa/Shiva the Destroyer, in this compound, Shiva is the most honoured.

Well.. I don't have quite good pictures to show you the different between all the temples, beside you can find it anywhere in other site too. 😂😂😂 this is called as justification😆, all right.. this post has been in the draft for 4 days, I need to post it soon.

In 1733, CA Lons a VOC officer found the ruins, in 1885, IJ Zerman started to clean the bushes and in 1902 Van Erp continued to discover the compound. Then in 1918, the ancient department started to re-established the ruins. They dig and collected piece by piece 70-80kg andesite and tuffs rock to rebuilt it based on the information they found from an old decree called syiwagrha which mentioned about that the temples were ready in 856 M.

Prambanan Temple Compound devided into 3 zones, sacred zone where the 8 main temples are, middle zones where hundreds of temples are, but only few has been rebuilt and outer zone. Each zones is surrounded by andesite's wall.

image at the left side of the wall is the sacred zone, these temples called Perwara Temples or Candi Apit

The temple above is 14 meters in height and the foundation is 6x6 meters, couldn't get closer to take picture of the relief because my partner was asking to leave the compound ASAP. That's why I missed the reliefs story of Ramayana on the Shiva Temple, failed to recognise the 3 big "Wahana" or Vehicle Temples. Wahana Temples belong to 3 gods, nandi or cow is Shiva's vehicle, swan is Brahma's Vehicle and Garuda which become Indonesia Nation Symbol is Vishnu's Vehicle.

image I think this is belongs to Vishnu Temple😅 but not really sure though I read about how to differs the temples despite of its measure

Well.. not all the stones used in this temples reconstruction are ancient rock or andesites😢 tons of the rocks had taken by the villagers or other people to use as their house building fondation and some other buildings, before the government issued the site is protected under the law and become one of Unesco World Heritage😔

image in one of these temples, the researchers found 10 stone boxes contained of gold coins, silvers, seeds and gems in 2016

This is the proof of how great is our Ancient especially in architecture and construction, it was built in 820-856 M during the Mataram Kingdom of the Old Java dynasty. You can read more about it from "History of Java" by TR. Raffles. I wish I could come back and learning more about the temples some other times.

Thank You for Stopping By💖👐

Thanks @mango-juice, I think I need to re-visit this temple to get more related pictures with the story I wrote, but.. There's so many obstacles just to complete one post, recently. India has many temples right? well.. Indonesia especially Central Java and Yogyakarta have many Budha and Hindu Temples, but this one is the Hindu one, not very far from this temple, There's a Buddhist temple older than Borobudur called Sewu Temple, can you see the different between the Hindu and Buddha Temple?

Enjoyed the photos as well as the narration by you!

thank you @shilpavarma, the narration not really good for this post I think I need to put more related information instead of posting this crappy thing

good morning dear @brittandjosie, how's the weather... still rain and storm? it's already afternoon here in Pamulang and yes, I visited the archaetology and spiritual temple full of history, do you recognise the name I mentioned above? that's all the dutch men from your country, my dear. They played a big role to find this place and prepared it to be visited by most tourists now. Thank you for the comment.

You visited a historical place, where each nation have some tradition & history each citizen has much to learn. Very long post you wrote with photos. Thank you very much for posting. Vote for you

not very long as before @mizan570, I tried to make it as short as possible, but I failed when it comes to the ancient history. thanks for visiting and the upvote too

What a fantastic tour of these temples and temple grounds! With your first photo I thought, oh it is all in ruins, that is a shame. But then I saw the large buildings and thought, OH MY - what amazing builders and artists made these! Thank you for showing them to us!

You are most welcome @donna-metcalfe, I really hope to go back there and get a full view of the temple including the other temple belongs to buddhist temple not so far from this hindu temple😊 I want to know how to differ both of them unless from the top of the temple which in Hindu temple called Wajra but in Buddha called Stupa.

So glad that you enjoy the tour and I have the same appreciation for the builders and the artists, in that time they really have a precise measurement to build all those huge temples without complete tools like the modern builders has such as crane or forklift or even compass.

It is interesting to me that ancient builders in many parts of the world 1) decided to make such huge structures to honor their Gods, 2) did everything by hand with such precision that you can't put a slip of paper between the building stones, and 3) carved such elaborate designs with the tools they had. I have carved rocks with an electric drill and metal bit and it took hours to make a light impression! These people were masters of their work!

One thing for sure anytime I go to the ancient building , how could they do that at that time? How creative and strong they were? What made them so tough and obedient? Maybe they lived a simple life when money and instant technology hadn't existed?

Or perhaps.. they only focussed on something they understand and known according to their status in community? So many questions and assumptions. From your information about carving the rocks, it's a crazy things that They completed all the temples in 24 years😲

Yes, many questions like yours go through my mind when I see buildings like this! 24 years to build all those temples! I know some English cathedrals took twice that long, some took over 100 - 200 years to build!

And you know it took many, many men to do it. And all of them knew how to do the work! Where did that knowledge go? Today it could be done faster with modern equipment. Yes, but I think much longer if they had only the ancient tools and methods!

That's why.. some people around create a legend folk story that only genies or evils who has the ability to built all the temples in short time. And for the Prambanan Temple also known as Lara Jonggrang Temple, the people has their own version of the making of the temples... 1000 temples built by the geenies that taking orders from the king to be builtin one night for the queen to be, but since the king is the murderer of her belated king, her father.. she tried to cancel the proceeding by scared away the geenies with the sound of trafitional rice mills as the sign of the sunrise and geenies afraid of the sun ☺ ...and the king who order the geenies so angry when he kbew that lara jonggrang deceived him, he cursed her to be a stone statue .. which also known as Durga Goddes, the wife of Shiva.

I believe that not so many people lives at that time😊 even though we can reach the other temple in 15 minutes by car now, it must be not less than 2 weeks at that time to reach 15 miles from the site.

That is a wonderful, and sad, story!
1000 temples to be built in one night! Yes, that would take a lot of genies for sure!
I think it was better for her to become a statue than be married to such an evil man!
It sounds like the people who created that story were many generations away from the people who did the building. They didn't know how it was done, so it had to be magic!
