Framing frame for painting as interior decoration

in #esteem7 years ago

Even when I was first under the arch of my Gallery, I was struck by an interesting fact. Of course, all the paintings on display there are so beautiful, I am so inspired to see them, plunge into the scene scene. But for some reason, my gaze always unconsciously clings to the gold-plated frames in which each master's masterpiece is inserted.

Even then, I involuntarily ask the question: what criteria are used by artists and designers, choosing for each canvas specifically the size, shape, and color of their baguette?

The idea of incorporating paintings into frames back to ancient times. Many of you may remember a history lesson that people were not originally painted on canvas stretched over the framework, and used for this plastered wall purpose. Such paintings are called murals (painted in wet plaster), and they are not deposited old analogue oils and paints, mixed with egg yolks. Such paintings adorn the houses of the nobles and kings of the ancient world.

Then on the walls and mosaics began to use the canvas, however, most importantly, even more recently, with an increased level of architectural excellence, frescoes and mosaics began to be applied instead of just a blank wall, and took shape in framing plaster - mold.

Even now, when decorating the interior walls, artists and decorators continue to use a similar method of gypsum form. Sometimes in museums or palace walls you can see even similar designed rugs with large sizes.

But back to the picture. Why do artists choose frames as separate art objects? The fact is that in those days, when replacing the frescoes in extensive use included paintings on the canvas, and every painting has come to represent a piece of art that you can now enough to easily move from one corner of the house to another, or even pass into the property of another face, artist and decorator confronted with the fact that it also needs to be framed.

Complexity is also in the fact that the use for this purpose old plaster or marble mold is difficult, because oil paintings are written either on canvas, stretched on thick frames, or on boards knocked together. Of course, it was written canvas walled on the wall, and then pulled a relatively small painting ancient, but how? Do not hang it without a frame in the beautiful interior of the house!

That's when the first frame was created. It was made from a wooden base, and then, from above, a plaster molding ornament was applied. Of course, there are craftsmen who carve the ornaments directly on the wooden base, but in this case such frames are very expensive, sometimes close to the cost of the painting itself. With gypsum, everything becomes easier, and there may be a lot of variety with the decor.

If you will not be difficult, be sure to pay attention to the frame of painting in the same my Gallery or Hermitage. They can tell you many things. For example, large images are almost never inserted into narrow frames, and small images - into too wide a picture. The bigger the canvas, the stronger and thicker the frame. However, there are exceptions to the rule, but more often everything is done proportionally, so it looks relatively harmonious and proportional.

Years ago, when there were no pretty ready-made baguettes in the stores, I myself framed the empty space my father saw on the machine. Usually I draw watercolor or gouaches, so my frame for small paintings is not too big. The fact is that the graphic works inserted under glass, in accordance with the design rules, should not have a large, large frame, as in which the oil painting is inserted. The same goes for posters or photos.

Usually in this case frame frame made of thick paper or carton made. This is called a mat. And in a double (or even triple) frame the whole image generally looks very harmonious, like "look in the window".

Lightweight graphic work in them, they do not have a big litter, and they look better in such a delicate framework. Passepartout today, you can also order at a baguette workshop, and do not make yourself out of improvisation tools

Often, an additional layer is attached to the sections, which are along the "window" - rectangular or square pieces for the image itself. Work designed in such a way looks more impressive and more pleasing to the eye.

In the article I added a photo with an example of registering their own work. For some reason, that's what I use most often with a gold-framed frame. However, sold today you can find a wide variety of baguette. All frames differ in color, thickness, and price.

I can not suggest in strict form, to whom frame and for which case to choose. I think each of you has a sense and a personal color. Therefore, I am convinced that when you begin to make drawings or drawings that you get from artists, you will have your own work, fun for your personal views, a work of art.
