Backpacking Stories in Mumbai

Although like to plan the trip / itinerary in detail, but I am glad to be free. For me, itinerary is a guide and a picture to keep from missing. Yes either lost or lost or lost money. Trip to India in 2015 I already have 75% preparation mature but I also provide space for flexibility. Finally I decided to spend 2 nights in Mumbai. Well here's a backpacking story in Mumbai.

I do not imagine how people used to travel. When booking airfare or lodging must go to travel agent or many also decide to 'go show' aja. I never did a trip that 'go show' for the inn, exclaimed ngeselin! ha ha

After a draining and emotional event, I finally, Andre, and Adjuy arrived in Mumbai. Unfortunately we arrived at Mumbai Central Station, not at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station. Yeah .. it's the world's busiest train station. The beautiful train station and its iconic city of Mumbai.

Finally we asked the locals how to get to CST station. There are many people who want to help answer, not infrequently also do not know. But finally we can find the bus route and place up. I am passionate about walking and taking a bus in Mumbai. As soon as we boarded the bus, we were immediately greeted by the very diverse citizens of Mumbai. Basically India is a country with a very diverse population. This is what I see in Mumbai, everything is united. Somewhat different from New Delhi.

In Mumbai the people look more friendly and alive. I really like the 'vibe' of this city. The feel of a busy city with its citizens dressed in traditional like 'sari' to formal clothes like suits, milling about on the roadside. Accompanied by the architecture of the British colonial heritage is still slick standing.

Only about 30 minutes, we arrived at CST Station. I was instantly amazed by the beauty of the architecture. I am also very happy to walk and feel the afternoon sun after being locked up in a cramped train for almost 12 hours.

Unfortunately .. we have not booked lodging for tonight. We arrived early in Mumbai. So we pulled over to McDonalds across from CST Station, wanting to mop up breakfast and lunch and stretch our legs. Fortunately there is free wifi at McDonalads, where I immediately look for the nearest and cheapest hostel. Can one hotel name Hotel Windsor, its location is only about 1.5 km from our present location. When we finished the booking, we immediately capcus to it.

Oh yes, make a note: I do not think that a hostel in Mumbai would be so expensive. Compared to New Delhi and other cities in India, the price of Hostel Windsor is around Rp 150,000 / night for a single bed in the dormitory. While in New Delhi, we can get one double bed room, bathroom inside, and breakfast, at a rate of Rp 150.000 / room / night for three people. Hehehe

Indeed the Windsor Hotel is one of the cheapest and most 'recommended' based on a leading hotel booking site. One unfortunate, its location is in the old town right left of the building is a dark warehouse and aisle. Hotel Windsor itself is located in an old and somewhat horror building. But so until we were greeted by friendly staff. It looks like the building and hotel itself is a place of Christian worship at the weekend and also a dormitory for the monks there.

As soon as check-in and enter the room, we immediately seizure for bathing. I can not wait to purify myself from the traces and sweat gained on the 'real Indian train'. I got soap and shampooed many times. Once done, it feels like being reborn.

In the afternoon we took a walk around the inn and found many snacks. Finally .. is a city man, can not be long away from 'life'.
