Solution: Restructure the sentence.

Example: There is beer in the fridge.

Kind of/ Sort of

Reason: Informal or Indecisive

Solution: Remove it.

Example: This dress is kind of inappropriate for the office.

This dress is inappropriate for the office.

At this Moment in Time

Reason: Overused and overblown

Solution: Use simple and clear alternatives.

Such as - Currently; Now; Presently; At this moment.

Whether or Not

Reason: Redundant or overblown and unclear.

Solution: Simplify it.

Example: The king had no idea whether or not he would be making the right choice.
The king had no idea whether he would be making the right choice.

In Terms of

Reason: Meaningless and overused.

Solution: Use other single prepositions such as ‘about’ or ‘as’.

Example: The data is presented in terms of a percentage.
The data is presented as a percentage.

At the End of the Day

Reason: Overused; unnecessary words

Solution: Use short alternatives.

Such as - Finally; Eventually; In conclusion; Ultimately.

Reason: Makes writer look not confident

Solution: Remove them.

Reason: Sounds very cliche.

Solution: Use interesting alternatives.

Such as: As I said before; Like I said; Referring to my previous argument.
