I'm looking forward to seeing the match between the world champion of Starcraft 2 and Alphago.
AlphaGo beat the world's best at Go which is an ancient game played in North East Asia. Go is said to be the most difficult game played by humans due to reliance on intuition rather than calculation. AlphaGo, by winning against the world's best has simulated the human quality of intuition. And I'm fascinated by the way the AlphaGo group takes human characteristics such as "imagination", "planning" and "intuition", and sets the goal of simulating these.
After winning at Go - the DeepMind team have turned their attention to Starcraft 2. This is a war simulation featuring different races which are terrestrial and non-terrestrial.
I just hope the terran race can survive the onslaught of AlphaGo.
I used to play SC2 against online players and it was a lot of fun.
When AlphaGo wins at SC2, and they will, it will have a huge impact in e-sports and in North East Asia as SC2 is popular there.
Recently we have seen AI beat the world champs at DOTA 2. A game which I have not played but know a little bit about.
There are less and less games which humans can win.
