Having knights at level 3 didn't even take that long. Don't forget that near the "rankings" button you can change the stage you are in - higher stages increase your drop rate, which means there is a higher chance you will drop better materials.
We will keep the knights fighting and we will finally buy them some nice items for them. There are three slots for every knight - weapon, armor and accessory. I will not be talking about the pet slot as you should already have a pet in there. :)
Weapons. Well obviously mage can't equip bow or axe, archer can't equip axe or staff and knight can't equip bow or staff. Swords are for everybody, but they are not that good stats wise. All knights can wear both types of armor and also there are rings and amulets, but the only difference is in their stats.
Attack will help you progress faster, hitpoints and defense will let your knights survive longer. Luck increases your drop rate. The best are always the items with the highest stats.
Thing is you don't even have to check the stats as developers made the game a little bit easier with the percents showing above the items. Even by looking at it you will know that 100% Robe of the Noble is better than Robe of the Noble with 5%.
There is also something called "Synthesis" - you can upgrade your item to have even higher stats. Be cautious as some people are doing it wrongly. The item you want to upgrade is the one in which you click the synthesis button.
You can upgrade an item to a level 5 and that is a maximum. The thing is that sometimes even a level 5 item is better than some very expensive and higher level items at level 1. However, it can cost a lot of magic water to upgrade an item to level 5.
That is exactly the point how you can play this game very cheaply and progress far enough to get some unique items to sell for EOS to then progress even further. Uniques can drop from floor 40 and legendary items from level 90. You can get to those floors pretty easy and if you are lucky you can drop for example a legendary item called The Giant's Blood that you could probably sell for 2-3 EOS.
If you were lucky with rebirths you already have some rare materials. You can use them in crafting or sell them - materials like Titanium or Cat's Eye will be always selling.
So if my strategy is to visit floor 40 as cheaply as possible I would not craft any item just yet, but I would check the marketplace first for some upgraded, but still very cheap items.
For example the best accessory till level 7 is Bone Ring. Sometimes are people selling even an upgraded level 5 Bone Ring for just 0.01 EOS! You can also check other rings and amulets, but Bone Ring offers attack as the first stat and that is very important if you want to level your knights fast.
I found my first level 4 Bone Right in the marketplace with a 67% quality for 0.01 EOS. It's an amazing price because if you would have to create it by yourself to this level you would have to buy at least 7 Bison Horns, have enough magic water to upgrade it and also be lucky to get good stats on it.
After I equiped it I almost doubled the stats of my knight! I proceeded and bought another one with 82% quality upgraded to level 3. I was also looking for armors and weapons. With the same strategy it is possible to equip our knights almost for free. Some items need your knights to be level 4 so it's better to buy it and wait than buying level 3 items and then selling them. Even now are the levels going pretty fast.
On the other hand, sometimes it's better to craft the item by yourself to get better stats on it and then buying cheap same items to upgrade it. I for example bought a Pierrot's Hand Axe upgraded to level 2 for 0.013 EOS, but with just 12% quality. The axe is really strong on level 5 so it's better to hold onto it, craft a better one later and then use synthesis.
So the strategy is looking for very cheap fully upgraded items with a nice quality. There is no point of buying expensive items right now as later you will be looking again for items upgraded items that required your knights to be level 7 or 8.
My expenses for full equipment for all three knights were just 0.2358 EOS. Some of the items I crafted by myself plus I bought another general gatcha to test my luck. I did a lot of operations on the EOS blockchain so I had to stake 1 more EOS to CPU. With all of this I still have 1.614 EOS left from my starting capital. I will be increasing it by selling rare materials, items and also unique materials if I am lucky.
Sometimes you have to wait for the best deals, but as you can with just this you can get to floor 40 very easily. Passing this floor means there is now a chance for you to drop unique items that you will be able to sell for much more that what you spend on the equipment. For example Adamatium is selling on the market now for 0.5 EOS.
With equipment ready you can now start buying more pet gachas to make your pets stronger too. Try adopting mostly unique or rare pets that are upgraded. Trash the materials you don't need or craft items from them and sell them on the marketplace. With the profits you can be looking at some more end-game items or more magic water to reach legendary floors now. However, wait for your knights to level up to level 7. You can also do some item flipping if you have enough EOS. Don't forget to always change the stage you are in to have a bigger chance to drop some rares or uniques. Also don't forget to send your pets to expedition and collect their drops.
I don't know what will happen with the game in the next update, but this is pretty much it. I will be making one more part after hitting level 7 becasue that is another milestone, where it is needed to change items and finally going to reach legendary and ancient floors. Those are the floors where you can easily make profit with just one item drop.
