Hi all, there is a warning out about the difficulty of that last step (Please go here to get a full in depth on how to buy and claim your EOS.) If you are not familiar with Linux they are advising peeps to be wary. https://steemit.com/eos/@crypto-investor/eos-important-warning-regarding-registering-a-public-key-for-the-ico
Thank you for this!
with metamask it's difficult too? i guess it's easy..
i saw very simple tutorial.
The way cryptocurrency investor was talking, you need to do some linux commands aswell? Did you watch the vid?
there are other ways to get the private key hehe i think.. look at eos website
hmm ok I'l take another look
they give Advanced Participation
and this is the details:
Register Your Public Key
At any time a user can map their Ethereum address to a public key in one of the following formats:
Command Line Usage
It is assumed that you have an Ethereum blockchain client installed. If you don't have one, Parity is recommended.
Getting set up
You will need the Nix Package Manager to work with the EOS contracts from the command line. These instructions will install it, configure it, and then install a CLI ethereum helper called seth
$ curl https://nixos.org/nix/install | sh
$ nix-channel --add https://nix.dapphub.com/pkgs/dapphub
$ nix-channel --update
$ nix-env -i seth

I've had another look and still unsure what I need to do about that public key. I will be using metamask

Here is a great article on EOS and what investors have to take into consideration: https://steemit.com/ethereum/@cryptoportfolio/ico-review-of-eos-blockchain-eos-tokens-on-ethereum-blockchain
Good article and upvoted; however, a word or two of warning. Every day the number of EOS increases so each issue may dilute the price a little - depending on how much ETH was paid. So what you buy today MAY be worth less in one days time.
In addition, I have noted that generally in the last 3 minutes of each token sale the number of ETH contributed can jump by about 30% to 50%. Coupled with associated fees, eg ETH payment, contract costs, etc you could actually find that you are better buying directly on an Exchange or through Shapeshift.
On present calculations I believe that if ETH contributed 3 minutes before close is about 5,000 ETH then you have a chance of getting a good price for EOS. This could change rapidly with ETH and EOS price movements.
