I have been spending a lot of time getting into EOS over the last few months as I feel it is a big part of the future of Blockchain tech. I've also been getting very interested in how to set up and run Decentralised Autonomous Cooperatives (DACs) - most people take the C in DAC as corporation, or community, but I feel the cooperative is the correct word in most cases.
As with most people who are getting into EOS I've been chatting a lot on the telegram groups and I decided it would be good to get out and meet some fellow EOS pioneers, so - with some collaboration and encouragement from Michael Yeates, I set up a local Bristol meetup.
On the 25th Jan we ran the First EOS Bristol meetup.

We did expect it to be me and Michael and a couple of others in a pub but by a few days before we had 15 people RVSP so I booked a space. Eventually, seven intrepid people braved a typically wet and cold January evening to come to Raw-space in Bristol (https://raw-space.co.uk/) to learn and chat about EOS. Most were fairly knowledgeable already but I went through a presentation anyway as shown below.
Please note that some of these slides where taken from the EOSTalk community meetup initiative and also I want to acknowledge Fuzzy and EOSTalk.IO who is supporting EOS meetups with EOSBits.
We only showed the first two videos - We were thinking of showing EOS Go's new video with Dan talking DPoS but it was a bit long for this session. Still very worth watching though. Here's the video links if you are interested

We then discussed the community testnet initiatives which have been going on and are very exciting - see the details here - https://steemit.com/eos-blockproducers/@xebb/bp-testnet-community-update
Then we started to discuss DACs with help from the EOStalk community slides.
I then took the liberty of inserting a slide about BlockMaker.IO which is planned to be a DAC focusing on being an EOS block producer.
I will be kicking this off in February - more about that in later posts.
Then we finished off with some useful links -

https://web.telegram.org/#/im?p=@EOSproject (Loads more telegram channels)
https://eosforum.org/
https://github.com/eosio

And we got some developers onto the telegram groups.
We discussed EOS and the future and Crypto in general for quite a while and then the subject of future meetups came up. Obviously we will need one for the EOS Block Chain Initiation in June - but a monthly meetup might be great to run as the whole EOS space starts to explode.
Great work guys, thanks for the recap and props to the EOSTalk community for the meetup presentation template. Looking forward to hearing more about blockmaker.io - DAC BPs could be very powerful in EOS.
✨AWESOME! Thanks for sharing this event with everyone. I'm happy to see you were able to make use of the presentation slides the EOSTalk Community Outreach Team has been putting together.
