Valid concerns, @cryptodan. I too have reservations about the time-frame + number of tokens + usability + lack of product... That being said, I've read the white papers and have practiced some diligence through research. My conclusion is that the concept is game-changing and the implementation/progress is lacking.

Seeing as the EOS tokens currently hold value on exchanges, they can be traded like anything else and therefore I have acquired a very small amount in the spirit of diversity and in the hopes of seeing progressive development. This offers me a very low-risk 'wait and see' buffer (roughly 15USD in coin).

To summarize, I share your skepticism to a degree, yet want to hold a fraction in case. Well written, by the way.
