EOSBet Hacked Again: $338,000 Stolen
EOSBet, a gambling dApp that operates on EOS blockchain, was hacked again. This time hackers made off with 65,000 EOS ($338,000) and the EOSBet team claims to have fixed the issue. Hackers tampered with the smart contract by adding a line of faulty code to their EOS wallets which activated the dApp’s “transfer function. The code basically tricks the dApp wallet into sending a matching amount of EOS when the wallet sends EOS to another wallet. Apparently, the faulty transactions caused a massive amount of EOS coins to disappear in less than a minute and the hackers quickly moved the coins to a different exchange. EOSBet advertises itself as being one of the safest gambling apps in the blockchain world but this is clearly not the case. Earlier this year the platform was hacked for 40,000 EOS ($200,000) and even though the team has heightened it’s security precautions it still fell victim to an almost identical attack.
